Building a career in the chemical enterprise can be challenging. However, we cannot go wrong if we start life with a firm ground to build on using Gods Word. God gives us the vision for a career and our life paths. “A man's heart deviseth his way, but the Lord directeth his step” (Proverbs 16:9, KJV). College students have several opportunities of starting a career path. Emilie Wapnick (2015) shared her concept of the “Multi-potentialite” and this aligns with why we have the option for an Interdisciplinary Studies (INDS) degree. Takagi, Y. and Sinjela, M. (2007) understood the power of the interdisciplinary degrees and how this could relate to intellectual property.

These areas of study overlap and compliment each other to help build unique careers. INDS provides an individual the flexibility to choose courses to accomplish their career goals and includes real-life experience that can be translated into college credits. The windows, doors, and details of my structure are the business opportunities. Chemistry, biology, and environmental science are a few of the many opportunities that are available. I built my walls with an Associates of Science in Chemical Technology. I was hired by Eastman Chemical Company in 1991 and worked in the chemical pilot plant organization. I was able to us my engineering and computer science experience from the military and my education in chemistry. Chemical production and manufacturing plants were built to make material and chemicals for customers. The business organization must provide material and chemicals within the customer’s specification. The engineer and the chemist will work together to assure the plant continues to run and the process chemicals are within the customer’s specification. A person with an INDS degree that overlaps engineering, computer science, and chemistry is able to communicate with all member of the
