Studying on the graduate level requires that some basic skills are demonstrated. One of the major skills that are required is the ability to use and integrate technology into your learning experience. At Trinity University, the use of technology is strongly suggested an often required in all courses of study. For this assignment we were tasked with using technology, namely the internet, to review and assess five different websites. Women for Women The first website that we were given to review was the Women for Women International website. This website was created to discuss women who have survived war, civil strife and other conflict. This group assists women in eight different countries that are plagued with war and have destitute living situations and communities. The women they serve are in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Sudan. This non-profit organization provides these women with resources, tips, tools and the basic essentials to help them become better citizens in their societies. Women for Women International created this site to provide viewers with information about its purpose as well as its programs and initiatives that essentially fulfill their mission of helping those women. The information provided gives an up to date look at past and into future programs they have hosted as well as how people outside the organization can support. The site evokes emotions of empathy, sadness, but empowerment. The inclusion of personal stories and videos shows an intimate look into the lives of these women the organization is working with. Designed to attract women, the site directs its focus on how women can and why they should become sponso... ... middle of paper ... ...ultivated in becoming more aware and socially conscious. Overall, my favorite site was the GLSEN website. I had the best experience reviewing the site and it kept me engaged and wanting to go deeper into the information. I think that in the past so much has been expressed about racial injustices that this new experience of gender biases and prejudices and sexism are not being talked about. Schools in the past were not safe for minorities and now are not safe once again because of sexuality. More has to be done to inform and educate students, but because the topic is controversial it presents a challenge to educators and policy makers. I like how the websites gives training and simple ways of introducing students to the topic of inclusion and acceptance. It is definitely a resource I would share with other teachers so that they can adjust their classroom climates.
