Health is indeed a blessing and everyone should feel him or her very blessed individual for this gift. Who will be more concerned about health than a patient seeking for this health all the time? A blind person can’t explain the beauty of the world as those who are the witness of this beauty. Breast cancer might seem an uphill task but not impossible. Breast cancer screening tests are also one of the most important steps in one’s life. The division of the cells becomes a very regular and continuous process without any reason in breast cancer. This division can spread to the other parts of the body as well. There are so many cells in a human’s body. They use to grow and die and new take their place. It is a natural process. The irregularity of this process makes things worse. The damaged and old cells still remains active and new grow and develop without any further need. This abnormal growth and division becomes reason of developing the breast cancer tumor. …show more content…
There are several stages of breast cancer. A stage in cancer is in fact the level of the disease or its cruelty whether it’s at initial stage. How much it speeded in the particular part. The treatment of the disease can’t be selected without knowing about the stage and level of the breast cancer. Research shows that every year almost 2,300 men and about 230,000 women have been found to get breast cancer. Breast cancer screening tests are actually to diagnose the disease as well as to learn about the stage of the disease.
The things to look for in case of having doubts…
You actually need to look for the symptoms and need to ask your doctor if any of the symptoms appear.
• Lump or inflammation in the breasts
• Some changes in the shape or even in the size of your breasts
• Any sort of void on the
..., while a cell undergoes cell cycle, when a cell comes in contact with another cell, it stops reproducing. However, cancer cells continue to duplicate repeatedly until there is a mass of cells or a tumor to form (see figure 9). Lastly, in cell division when there is a mutation or abnormality in the DNA, a normal cell stops dividing. However, a cancerous cell will continue to duplicate and form mutations (“Cell Biology and Cancer”). Also, cancer cells are harmful because they grow and duplicate with complete disregard to the functions and limitations of the body (see figure 10). Also, cancerous cells have the ability to spread through metastasis throughout parts of the body through the bloodstream. In terms of similar behavior to that of normal cells, cancerous cells also duplicate, but at a very different rate ("Cancer Cells vs. Normal Cells: What's Different?").
Symptoms women often start noticing that indicate the possibility of having a cancerous tumor in the breast include a lump on the underarm or armpit, thickening of the nipple, fluid (not milk) leaking from the nipple, change in the size of the nipple or breast, changes of color, shape or texture of the nipple or the areola, and unusual pain in the breast or in the armpit (Stephan., 2010). These are the symptoms women usually start noticing before go to the doctor to ge...
Cancer is the term used to describe a group of diseases consisting of hundreds of ailments and although there exists so many different types of cancer, they all begin in a similar way. The body is made up of over a trillion cells, and cancer is the uncontrolled growth of malfunctioning cells in the body (Dawson, 1996). “Normal body cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly fashion. During the early years of a person’s life, normal cells divide faster to allow the person to grow. After the person becomes an adult, most cells divide only to replace worn-out or dying cells or to repair injuries” (American Cancer Society, 2012).
The world we live in can be wonderful at times, but can also be dangerous and danger isn’t a good place to start at.The word cancer seems terrifying when someone thinks about it and they should be because there is a lot of types of cancer from all over the word.Cancer is the leading causes of death everywhere you go and it happens from different parts of the body. From someone that doesn’t understand cancer it’s very important to know about the aspects in which they come around. They way a cancer forms, symptons that are caused, and the way each cancer type is treated is very important to consider.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer to affect women, and is the second highest cause of their mortality(Pegg 14 Introduction). The good thing is, because of mammography, breast cancer mortality has decreased in the U.S. by nearly 40% since 1990(Mammography Saves Lives). Mammography is medical imaging that uses x-rays to see inside the breasts and is used for detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. Having an annual mammogram is important and could really save lives. In fact, it is recommended by the American College of Radiology and the Society for breast imaging that women receive mammograms annually starting at age 40(Mammography Saves Lives).
Healthy cells grow and divide in a way to keep your body functioning properly. But when a cell is damaged and becomes cancerous, cells continue to divide, even when new cells aren't...
“One in every ten women in the United States will develop breast cancer sometime during her life”. (Breast Care). More than six percent of these cases are linked to hereditary. There are many measures that can be taken to detect breast cancer early in its stages. Women who believe they have a higher risk should have the breast cancer gene testing.
...therapy. Surgery entails partial mastectomy, full mastectomy and a radical mastectomy. Woman of course want to be able to keep their breast in tact but in some cases it is necessary to emoted part of the breast or the whole breast. Partial mastectomy only removes part of the affected breast depending on how big the tumor is and the location in which it is placed. A full mestetocomy is where the full breast is removed along with other tissues nearby if necessary which is known as radical mastectomy. Many times women go through numerous reconstructive surgeries to reshape their breast attempting to construct them as closely as possible to their original breast. Chemotherapy is a universal treetment for every stage of breast cancer whether doctors are using pre surgery to help shrink tumors or post surgery to ensure that cancer cells do not show their ugly face again.
Breast Cancer, as well as other forms of cancer, scientists do know how it occurs, but they do not know an exact cause. There are some genes in our body called oncogenes, genes that have potential to cause cancer, that increases the speed of cell division while other genes such as tumor suppressors, cause the cells to die at the correct time. Mutations that occur in the DNA, which “turn on” the oncogenes or “turn off” tumor suppressor genes, will cause some of the cells to be cancerous in the breast("American Cancer Society"). Also, Breast Cancer can be increased by inherited gene mutations and acquired gene mutations. The risk of Breast Cancer can be increased dramatically, through the inheritance from parent to offspring, if a mutation occurs. For example, if a suppressor gene, such as BRCA, forms a mutation, then it is likely to be passed to future generations. This gene no longer suppresses abnormal growth, therefore there is a higher chance of cancer being developed. Even though Breast Cancer can be inherited it is more likely to be acquired through one breast cell. The acquired mutations could be a result of of radiation or cancer-causing chemicals. ...
Usually, normal cells die when they are old or damaged, newly grow cells will replace them. However, if something goes wrong, there may be too many new cells when the body only needs a few of them, and the body can’t get rid of old cells, it builds up a mass of tissue called tumor. There are two types of tumor, begin or malignant. Begin tumors are usually not harmful to human body, however, malignant tumors could be life threatening. This type of tumors will invade organs and tissues around them, travel through blood vessels or lymph vessels, attach to other tissues and destroy them. Malignant tumors arise in breast tissues and cause breast cancer.
Ways to early detect would be self-breast exams at home, annual mammograms and genetic testing for the BCRA1 and the BCRA2 abnormal gene. It has been said that when people are tested for the abnormal gene and are found to carry it, it is normally passed from either parent. Not only do women develop breast cancer, but men are also at risk. If detection is caught early enough there can be a high survival rate. Some symptoms and signs are a lump, change in size or shape of breast, nipple pain, discharge or bleeding of the nipple, change of skin color and texture, or breast becoming swollen or feels warm. It is advised to seek medical attention upon discovery of signs and symptoms. It can possibly allow a better treatment option for
Many people think if they do not feel any lumps in their breasts there is nothing to worry about. That is not always the case. “Mammography remains the “golden standard” screening method for women…and reliably identifies malignant tumors, especially those that are too small to feel (“Advances in breast imaging”). “Checking one’s own breasts for lumps or other unusual changes is called a breast self-exam, or BSE. This type of exam cannot replace regular screening mammograms or clinical breast exams. In clinical trials, BSE alone was not found to help reduce the number of deaths from breast cancer (cancer.gov)”. Mammograms are necessary because performing a self-exam does not always find what is there. Although self-breast exams have been known to catch lumps in the breast, mammograms have found more due to the fact that they can detect very small cancer much sooner than self-breast exams can. Also not very many people know how to correctly administer a self-breast exam. It is recommended that if you do perform self-exams you should also get routine mammograms. If you rely solely on self-exams, it may be too la...
There are many risks that affect breast cancer. One of the reasons it is more common, is because we have better medical equipment that detects breast cancer at an earlier stage than before. An estimated 192,370 new cases of breast cancer will occu...

As defined by Majure, breast cancer is an “uncontrolled growth of abnormal breast cells” (Majure: 110). It is also one of the cancers that women fear the most. Not only do women get diagnosed with breast cancer, men do too. However, it isn't as bad, or as common, in men as it is in women so doctors don’t recommend screening for men. In the U.S more than one thousand men get affected by breast cancer every year and about two hundred thousand women are affected by breast cancer every year. Women are most likely to get diagnosed with it in their forties and fifties while some may be diagnosed with breast cancer in their twenties, if they started their menstrual cycles at an early age like 14. Typically, men are diagnosed with breast cancer in their sixties or seventies.
