Inequality In America's Public School System

There is an unequal balance in America's public school funding system. Every state and district requires different amounts of federal funding for their schools. Therefore, living in a poverty stricken community compared to a wealthier community, school funds would look a lot different. Wealthier communities typically have a greater pay for teachers, therefore attracting the best teachers. There would be more plentiful materials to help children learn as well due to funding. Less fortunate communities would be somewhat of the opposite. This inequality in the public school system is unfair to the most vulnerable - children.

Think of it as if you give a man a fish he can eat for a day, but if you teach him how to fish he can eat for a lifetime. It relates to the fact that teaching kids things that they could use for a lifetime is important. We should be investing more in our youth and shaping their way to being intelligent people. However, we should not only be investing in our youth, but also the people that educate kids, teachers. In most states teachers are paid very little in comparison to other jobs that required a college degree. When you think about it, shouldn't we be paying teachers more because they are teaching us how to be successful? …show more content…

Kids will be more dedicated to school and work harder. By Adding more funding to schools they can afford things like iPads and Smartboards to aid learning. Also, we are in the age of technology and learning to use technology is a valuable skill. In addition kids who are excited to go to school will be happier and more
