According to Khawaja Nazimuddin, the 2nd Prime Minister of Pakistan religion shall not be separated form state. He stated: "I do not agree that religion is a private affair of the individual nor do I agree that in an Islamic state every citizen has identical rights, no matter what his caste, creed or faith be.” Minorities face religious discrimination although the constitution of Pakistan has respected their rights. Other than this, domestic violence is a substantial problem in Pakistan. According to a study by Human Right Watch 70-90 percent of women in Pakistan have experienced abuse. Approximately, 5000 women have been killed in Pakistan because of domestic violence and thousands have been
When working practitioners must not only protect the children they work with when in the school setting and off site, but also themselves. Whether in school or off-site the school safeguarding policy should be referred to, to give guidance and adhered to at all times.
The country of Pakistan has not always oppressed women. The former man in charge of Pakistan professed, “No struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men. There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a third power stronger than both, that of women (Lamb and Yousafzai 31).” It was not until a general named Zia ul-Haq threw a coup and seized control of the government that women and men’s rights became incomparable under Islamic Law. Zia’s regime did not allow women to play most sports, have access to healthcare, or open a bank account, and, in...
Violence is prevalent throughout the world, and millions of people die every year because of this. There are many forms of violence, such as violence in war, domestic violence, violence against women (VAW), children and intimate partner violence (Krug et al., 2002:3). This paper will investigate aspects of domestic violence. Many scholars use domestic violence and violence against women interchangeably, but VAW is one form of domestic violence. The United Nations (UN) defines VAW as "any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life" (WHO, 2013) (Cheung et al., 1999: 2). Women are being harmed physically, emotionally, economically and psychologically on a daily basis, and reports filed regarding VAW each year are increasing rapidly. However, these reports do not represent the complete scenario, as most of the cases go unregistered or disregarded every day (Cheung et al., 1999: 2) because VAW is usually excused, allowed and overlooked (Amnesty International, 2009) (Merry, 2009: 5). Intimate partner violence (IPV) is one pervasive form of violence against women, which is usually committed by the husband or intimate male partners (Krug et al., 2002:89). This paper aims to explore patriarchal norms, social constructions and structural inequalities, which support IPV through the lens of masculinities, honor, and gender ideologies, as well as the concept of women as property in the context of Muslim communities.
In the 1970’s, Ralph Nard coined the term whistleblower referring to when a referee blows a whistle to indicate an illegal or foul play. Oxford dictionaries define whistleblower as “a person who informs on a person or organization regarded as engaging in an unlawful or immoral activity.” This can be in either the government or corporations. The debate on whistleblowers continues to be pertinent in light of recent scandals. Many believe in the value of transparency, but disagree about the correct way to achieve it. This is why we created laws, such as the Whistleblower Act and the Espionage Act. The Whistleblower Act was put in place in order to protect “[A]ny disclosure of information” that a covered employee “reasonably believes” evidences “a violation of any law, rule, or ...
What to do? The issue of abused and homeless women is one that has recently been brought to the forefront of social issues in Pakistan. Abuse, most often begins after marriage. According to local traditions, once a girl’s baraat (wedding procession) enters the husband’s house, only her janaza (funeral pyre) should leave. Loyalty and devotion to the husband and his family come above every thing else. When family support is pulled away, the girl is then at the mercy of her husband. This total control of the girl’s life sometimes leads to her death. Often times it leads to abuse. The girl cannot return to her father’s house for fear of dishonoring him and so continues to suffer. In some cases she may chose to run away therefore igniting her husband’s anger that then is left with no choice put to pursue and kill her to redeem his honor.
Morality and ethnics are two terms that closely resemble one another. Morality and ethnic both have to do with the concept of what is considered as right and wrong. However, there is a distinct different between the two. Morality is the principle that concerns itself with what is right and what is wrong based on an individual’s personal opinion and thoughts. Ethnics are a set of rules that are considered as “right” and are set out by an external source. Two types of philosophical ethnics are deontology and utilitarianism. Utilitarianism focuses on maximizing happiness while deontology focuses on duty and rationality. If one was given the option to save the life of one person or save the life of five, how would one respond? Those who believe in utilitarianism have a different mindset as to how to solve this crisis. However, like any theory that exists, there are always strength and weaknesses to those theories.

According to (Farney and Valente, 35-49), domestic violence is a major concern in the society, considering the fact that it affects the community in a detrimental way. Basically, domestic violence involves negative acts carried out on a person, which often tend to undermine and control the person. Such acts mostly involve physical violence apart from emotional abuse, with intent of manipulating one of the parties in relationships. From this, definitely, domestic violence is an issue that affects the health as well as social-economic state of individuals, and on top of all, it is a human rights issue. Reason being, there is downplay of human rights such as the right to equality coupled with security and freedom among many other rights through domestic violence.

Surveillance is the monitoring of the behaviour, activities, or other changing information, usually of people for the purpose of influencing, managing, directing or protecting them. The right of human beings basically entails freedom to basic things of life, part of which includes freedom to life, speech, vote and movement, all which are known as fundamental human rights. But with the advents of technology and the growth in the society, these have led to the development of satellite cables, which are used to monitor events at certain places with or without the knowledge of the residual/residents. Thus, the use of satellite cables has made the world a global village.
Social Workers are different people who help certain children to find better homes for them. In addition, they help trouble teens with different things but I believe before they get the police involve they check the home surroundings first and talk to the parents? The social worker knows that the best interest is for the child and not the parents. If the child feels threatens with his/her life the social worker needs to look at the living conditions that the child live in ,talk to the parents and if the parents doesn’t solve the problem then the social workers are liable to get the police involved and take the child to Child Protective Services. From then the social worker needs to find good adoptive parents with good a good background, no trouble, and a good living environment for the child.
" What is monitoring? It is to observe/check the progress of something over a period of time. The first amendment guarantees freedom of expression or the right to say what we want without restriction. This means that we can post anything we want online. It does not guarantee that we will be safe from the repercussions that follow. The U.S. government has the right to MONITOR it. That does not mean that they have the right to change it or stop it from going out. If it is in the interest of international or national or state or local safety they have the ability to stop or change it from happening. The U.S. government has the duty and/or right to monitor its citizens because if it doesn't then the U.S. will fall apart or something potentially very bad could happen and it would be extremely hard to stop before it was too late.

“Self-awareness is a psychological state in which people are aware of their traits, feelings and behaviour. Alternatively, it can be defined as the realisation of oneself as an individual entity.” (Crisp & Turner, 2010). In other words, self awareness is recognising one’s personality which includes strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs and emotions.
A similar discrimination can be seen in other religions as well. In Pakistani society the biggest discrimination can be seen in the form of the treatment of religious minorities. In some households people tend not to eat food sent from a Christian or a Hindu family and in some extreme cases not even from a Shia family.
