Public Speaking is an important essence in our life now because we are living in this competetive era of 21st century where the strong leave the weak in many aspects. We as a BEN students must be good in public speaking in order to be the strong one. It is because it is the peak of our achievement because when we learn English we must be able to read, write and talk in English but to be able to speak in public using our second language have brought us to another level. As we all know that English is an international language used by billions of people in the world in communicating thus, in order for us to be in that international circle, we must be good in public speaking. KISS Rule.
Next, when you want to deliver a speech you must remember the KISS rule. Yes! kiss as in K.I.S.S but it is not kiss as in muahh muahh thingy, but it is an acronym Keep It Simple Stupid. This rule is used by Richard L Weaver II in his book entitled ‘Public Speaking Rules.’
The rules would be you do not have to use bombastic words or one long speech to get your message sent across. You can just go direct to the point of what really matters in your speech because it is not about what you know but it is about how can you make the audience understand about what you know. It may be great to used bombastic words to show how knowledgable you are but what is the point of using it if the audience cannot understand the word and do not want to listen to you because they cannot understand?
Thus that is why this KISS rule is very important as we do not want to burden the audience with too much information because it is proven that simple things works best in making ones understand something. Thus, let’s us all use this KISS rule in this course shall we? TRANSITION: Now you are aware of some ofthe existence of this rule,let move on to my last point which is say it like you meant
