I’ve held many leadership roles from, president and vice of high school student government, co-captain of my cheer squad, to college, tutoring, mentoring, leading group activities. I am comfortable leading groups and I only want to continue to position myself in that role for my own personal growth.
Why should you be considered for this position?
I am a supporter. If one were to ask my friends and family what my greatest strengths are, I am positive they would say that I am a supportive and encouraging. I describe myself as the supportive leader. Should I be granted this position, I will make sure that my team is heard and validated. I hope to one day encourage and promote leaders in others. I want people to know that they have the ability

I looked forward to going to every meeting this semester; everything excited me. Because of this club, I’ve decided to receive my certificate in entrepreneurship here at Montclair. It is my calling, so I have to pursue it. I’ve longed for a safe place where I can speak about my dreams and visions without being laughed out or receiving unenthusiastic/unauthentic results. I see that others do it here weekly, and so I am encouraged to. It is an humbling feeling to know that people around you have the same mindset, aren’t afraid to dream big, and they just “gets it”. I love that. I love the energy, the feel of this club. As vice president, I will stand behind the president and other members of our club to make sure we keep this energy. I want to develop as a person, before a leader. This club has and will continue to help me do so. It helped me become more fearless. I am excited for my future with this club. As vice, I will learn how to sell myself, to put myself out there more. Gaining leadership roles and responsibilities will enable me to do this. This is something I will take with me as I establish myself as an …show more content…
I would also like to share more of my story with everyone; how I define myself and what brings my passion. I want to learn a lot from my team and from the members. I would love to keep the energy and the welcoming environment of the committee and group. I would love to see many speakers, like Lawrese Brown, return again. She is inspirational. I followed up with her weeks after the meeting and she continues to help me shed light on my goals. Things to adjust: I want to get to know the members a little better; I want to know what inspires people and what their goals are. I would like to add more bonding time within the group members. Even small group triple “dates” where active members get to know each other on a more intimate level. This promotes more
Leadership plays a major role in determining the success or failure of an organization. Leadership skills can be developed, and learned. Everyone at some point in their life will be asked to be a leader. For instance, arranging an outing with peers, subordinate or family members. This person can be appointed or volunteer. To source for ideas, locations, shortlisting the ideal places and discuss with group members.
Leading organizations of school administrators offer educators various opportunities to encourage educators to become leaders. No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) has mandated that leaders be better prepared for the task of providing quality education to all. NCLB “… is forcing all educational stakeholders to face the weakness of contemporary school leadership and is making it impossible to ignore the need for higher quality principals” (Hale & Moorman, 2003, p.1). It is believed that all educators can be and are leaders in their own right. A leader is a visionary and has the ability to inspire others to aspire to greatness. Of the numerous opportunities that are offered, those that are most beneficial include but are not limited to leadership training programs, professional development, and creating shared leadership opportunities for teachers to become leaders. The systems “…that produce our nation’s principals are complex and interrelated – and governed by the states. Each state establishes licensing, certification and re-certification” (Hale & Moorman, 2003, p.1). States use the ISLLC standards “…as the framework for preparation programs and in service professional development of school superintendents, principals, and other leaders” (Hale & Moorman, 2003, p.3).
In a firm, management and leadership are important and needed. Leadership and management are similar. Actually, leadership and management are totally different. The leadership would influence the firm. The leader would have difference leadership styles to lead the subordinate.
I am involved in several clubs, such as Spanish club and HOSA, although I do not hold office in any of them, I try to serve as a leader and to use my intelligence to help the school. As a leader I am capable of using my potential to aid in inspiring others. I hope to prove myself to be a good example and guide for those who need help. As a new inclusion to NHS, I am committed to help my fellow students study and to do their best. I possess a variety of study and organization skills that I can pass on to other students. I am a open-minded and patient person, making it easy for me to take criticism willingly and accept recommendations thoughtfully. I can work well either individually or on a team and can Inspire positive attitudes and behaviors in others. I promise to utilize my leadership skills and work with other NHS members to achieve success for the school. With my characteristics, I will inspire new concepts and further develop the character of NHS. I plan to volunteer in events as much as possible, and can fill in for other people who can’t be in attendance. Whether I’m volunteering or helping a fellow student, I vow to act with honesty, integrity, diligence, and the best of my ability. With my skills and abilities, I Would be proud to step up and represent NHS with confidence. I am a great strategist and am able to
Throughout everyday tasks in the classroom, or outside of school, I step up and lead those who need to be led. I constantly find new opportunities to lead others and help the situation any way I can. Every summer the band has a marching band camp for a week straight that we must all attend. Being an experienced band member, I step up and assist all underclassmen and show then where to go and what they need to be doing. Instead of getting frustrated when giving the freshman directions, I am calm and collect and walk them step by step until they understand, something most leaders would not have time or patience for. With many plans to help others and lead within my community, I believe that I have what it takes to be a strong, and powerful leader for the National Honor Society.
Every interview I have taken part in, the interviewer has always asked me, “do you see yourself as a leader?” or “in groups, what role do you normally take on?” Leadership in modern day culture has developed into being highly unattainable and as a community we hold leaders to a standard of changing the world. Even though leadership is held to such a high standard, college students are expected to have taken on leadership roles and be able to explain the change they have made in the world at only 21 years old. However, I believe everyone can be a leader and that everyday leadership is just as important as roles that change the world. You don’t have to be Steve Jobs and change the way the world uses phones or like Martin Luther King Jr. and change
Being a leader is no simple task. During my Eagle Scout project, I lead a range of people, from adults to youth. It was my job to make sure everyone was working and, that everyone was capable of doing their task. I had many issues doing this throughout my project because I am only one person and I can’t be everywhere at once. Thusly made being a leader a drudgery. But I had an incredible set of adults guiding me along the way, who taught me that being a leader was not doing everything myself, being a leader
I think I tend to shy away from these positions because I prefer to work behind the scenes. However, my leadership positions have shown me that it is not just a matter of guiding others, but it is about helping others. For the past two summers, I have been a youth leader at my church’s Vacation Bible School. I usually read Bible stories to the children, play with them, and give them instructions. I feel that this position brings out the best in me because I realize that I could be influencing a young child and the person he or she will become. Being a leader does not necessarily involve leading people. For example, this past Fall, I decided to organize a fundraiser selling t-shirts so that I could donate money to the Harvest Youth Club. Although I wasn’t necessarily leading a group of people, I had to find a t-shirt design, keep track of orders, negotiate prices, and encourage people to buy one. This leadership opportunity forced me to be independent and lead myself to bring good to others at the Harvest Youth Club. I have come to realized that with each leadership opportunity, I have become more confident in the person that I want to
Despite not being a part of over 20 different organizations, as some claim to be, being a part of a smaller number of groups has allowed me to focus on developing my leadership skills more thoroughly than I could otherwise. Not spreading myself too thin has made me much more committed and involved in the organizations that I am a part of, making my influences so much stronger. I firmly believe that I am trying my absolute best not only in school, but in leaving my comfort zone and being an active member in our community. I am honored that I have been considered for such a prestigious invitation as
When things are getting tough and people are looking for someone to take charge, I want that person to be me. I believe that I was born to be a leader, because my best work results from when I get control in a situation. In a group setting, something could be as small as a playing a board game or as big a final project, if I want it to go well then I need the lead. All through my life I have held informal leadership roles, such as the ones mentioned previously, and have earned formal leadership positions as well. A particular formal role that I have possessed was being elected captain of my high school varsity basketball team. This role taught me a lot about how to execute with a group of differently skilled people all seeking a common goal, a major component in leadership. The other position I held was being a Peer Leader for my high school, a club that involves mentoring underclassmen in their transition from middle school. This experience taught me to direct a different dynamic, people who need to be taught as well as lead.
Please list any outstanding leadership experiences that you have participated in and describe your role in that experience (i.e., ASB, PLUS, Band, Drama, Yearbook, etc.).
He will be there for you when you have problems with your family and spouse, because he wants employees to be focused when they are working and not thinking about family problems.
One of the topics in organizational development today is leadership. Leadership is what individuals do to mobilize other people in organizations and communities. According to Kouzes & Posner, there are five practices and ten commitments of exemplary leadership. The five practices of exemplary leadership include: Model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart. In the Leadership Challenge, Kouzes and Posner found similar patterns and actions of leadership that created the essentials to achieve success. Utilizing the research conducted by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, I have created a leadership plan that would apply to the Admission Department at Texas Wesleyan University.
In developing my own educational leadership model (MELM) I began with establishing what I believe the goal of education should be, since leaders by definition are leading people towards something. The goal of education is to effectively teach students the essential skills and knowledge they will need to establish a productive, positive, self-sufficient life where they can be active members of their communities. An effective leader, while working towards this goal will need to consider the present conditions and demands of the environment they are a part of. In the field of education, both internal and external factors are of crucial importance when developing a plan to lead for success. However, one must note the variables in education are different than those the business sector face, for example; student performance, ability and cultural differences; availability/condition of supplies and materials; goal; educator’s capability, views and attitudes; conditionality of economic support; openness/hostility of influencing communities; state or government performance mandates. A leader who knows where they (students, school, district, community) are now, can approach goals more clearly and develop more effective strategies to arrive at them.
Indeed, Leadership is not a position it’s a rewarding responsibilities. As such, I will continue to be a productive and efficient leader by maximizing my skills and knowledge to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for all students. I will continue to reinvent, enrich and improve myself to make a significant difference in the lives of my students and of those I have come in contact with. I want to be an agent of
