Every individual, at one point in time, may find it necessary to work on their cars, but sometimes the check-up doesn’t end well. Sometimes it is even lethal when a person ends up dead after being electrocuted. If the damage does come to this, the person ends up sustaining serious injuries. It is not only a person that can sustain the damages, but also the car is prone to malfunction if certain rules are not followed. The do’s and don’ts when checking a car can be summarized into three rules.
First, one should make sure they have the appropriate personal protective equipment for the job prior to starting the check-up. When working on a car, proper dressing is crucial first; batteries consist of sulfuric acid that is corrosive when it comes into contact with a person’s skin. It may be lethal, when in the process of checking the battery, the acid gets into one 's eyes as this may mark the genesis of life of blindness. One 's clothing needs protection too, as sulfuric acid is not only corrosive to the human skin, but it also causes wear and tear in clothes. Car check-ups exposes an individual to several dangers one of them is shock. An electrical shock may be triggered by a wrench once it touches a piece of metal, while disconnecting the main negative. Upon touching a positive electrical part, the wrench serves as an arc welder hence, it is good to disconnect the main negative cable first. To ensure that no harm is caused to the batteries, one should ensure that they recognize both the negative and positive signs. The negative terminal is marked by a black wire and a – sign, while the positive terminal is marked by a red wire and a + sign.
