The film Imba means sing is about an African children’s choir that travels around the world singing and dancing. The children come from the slums of Kampala, Uganda and by singing for an audience so they can raise money for their education and a brighter future. The films intention is very vast and how it displays to the audience. The film is very informative to the audience, it gives off emotion as we are shown the back ground of a few of the children and how they live. The film is also very artistic with the singing and dancing within the film, and how the children go through the songs and choreography. I would say in my experience with the film, that it was eye opening. The film shows how the children live in Uganda and how very few of the kids get an education. In Uganda it was said that you are either rich or very poor. When you are very poor in Uganda its hard to pay for the children’s education, so many of the kids don’t get one. A lot of the kids live in a small hut that usually isn’t very big, and the living room is usually the bedroom for the parents and child. One of the main kids the film focuses on is a young girl named Nina. One of the thing Nina had to live with while in Uganda was her mom being a prostitute, the producers were worried sending her home and if she would be okay. I do believe though that the questions were insightful based on the questions asked. One of the questions asked was, “Are the kids able to go to college after their education?” This was a very interesting question because you can find out what happens after the kids get in education. Most of the kids get scholarships for schools to Europe, America, and Africa where they continue their learning journey.
