What are the differences between work and labor? There are many differences between work and labor. At the same time, it is complex to point out these differences because they are subtle. To illustrate one difference between work and labor, here is an example from a building site. The manager or contractor organizes the structure of the tasks that need to be executed. The laborers are those who are doing the heavy work, laying bricks, digging the holes and carrying the lumber. The manager, foreman and the laborers, however, are all working at the site. It is only those doing the heavy work that would be considered to be laboring.
Some people work very hard and they really enjoy their work, while others find work to be a chore, could at times feel that they are laboring though tasks. Another difference may be that others work very hard but they could become very competitive in their work. They may want to be better than their co-workers and that may lead them to become a slave to their work. Working extra time after your normal working hours could seem like labor even it is a job you enjoy. Sitting in the office late at night for the third night in a week you could end up feeling like you are laboring through a difficult project.

For instance high-powered executives can forget what it is like to have time to enjoy themselves with their family and friends, and as a result they can become depressed or their vision of life becomes so limited that all that exists in their world is work. An overworked executive may never have done laboring for money, but may have labored through difficult projects. Humanity could be different if people could choose to work at what they love and have passion for. it. They could have balance in their lives; they could grow with their family and enjoy life. Ultimately, all of us need to work; some of us do laboring jobs, and at times many of us will labor through a difficult projects. In my opinion labor is a heavy heavier or burning feeling and work can be busy but incredible productive and enjoyable.

The term, work can have several meanings and interpretations. Some people view work as a necessity and a social norm, others might view it with a negative perspective, giving how people are so dependent on it. Benjamin Franklin, Henry David Thoreau, and Walt Whitman all have a similar interpretation of work. Your encounters with society affects your actions, yielding a specific outcome. They all acted accordingly to what they observed around them, and the actions hey took was to yield a result of change.
Work is a word that one hears on a daily basis on multiple different levels; work out, work at school, go to work, work at home, work for change. Society today is made of people that work hard every moment of their day from sunrise to twilight, these workers work for food, housing, family, education, and transportation. Currently, human beings are thinking more on the line of they need work in order to make a living. For that reason, work has become meaningless, disagreeable, and unnatural. Many view work as a way to obtain money and not a meaningful human activity that one does for themselves. The term “work” is something that a person does in his or her life. They are processes that may or may not usually be counted as work. For example, we had to choose three types of work that our classmates wrote about in an essay. The three I chose were: 1) “Being a student at a university is not cheap and it is difficult to work full time as well as being a full time student.” This is a prime example of how an institution organizes or coordinates the way this person lives their life. When thinking about Identity, it might be easy to just say that is “who we are”, or it’s just me. An identity is much more than that though. I like to think of it as a living puzzle. There are hundreds or thousands of pieces that come together to form the complete identity, or the complete “you”. The poem, “What Work Is” by Philip Levine is an intricate and thought-provoking selection. Levine uses a slightly confusing method of describing what work actually is. He gives the idea that work is very tedious, however necessary. It is miserable, however, it is a sacrifice that is essentially made by many, if not all able-bodied members of society. Many have to sacrifice going to a concert or a movie, but instead works jobs with hardly a manageable salary. The identity theory of mind holds that states and processes of the mind are identical to states and processes of the brain thus particular psychological states are identical with particular type of physical state. Many objections have been lay out by philosophers who have evaluated this theory one objection that is particularly strong is the Martian and octopus criticism which state that if identity theory is true, than these species should not feel pain, but if they do feel pain than identity theory is not true.

Steger, Lori Deschene, and Keven wood describe what the joy of meaningful is to them.Life is what you make of it and it’s and up to you to decide what you will get out of it. Some people may work eight hour shifts Monday through Friday miserable, exhausted, depressed, unhappy, and under a lot of pressure and stress from their jobs. Others may do the same, similar, or different jobs being comfortable, happy with life, and pleased with their job position. Your job should be one of the most important things to you because you are there on average forty hours a week and most of your time is spent there. It should be important that you enjoy what you do because it is practically your second home. Meaningful work is a job you enjoy doing, are compassionate about, never tired of, and do for the fulfillment of yourself , it is important to success because if one enjoys what they do opportunities in their career path will only expand.
Zora Neal Hurston’s book, Their Eyes Were Watching God, reveals one of life’s most relevant purposes that stretches across cultures and relates to every aspect of enlightenment. The novel examines the life of the strong-willed Janie Crawford, as she goes down the path of self-discovery by way of her past relationships. Ideas regarding the path of liberation date all the way back to the teachings of Siddhartha. Yet, its concept is still recycled in the twenty-first century, as it inspires all humanity to look beyond the “horizon,” as Janie explains. Self-identification, or self-fulfillment, is a theme that persists throughout the book, remaining a quest for Janie Crawford to discover, from the time she begins to tell the story to her best friend, Pheoby Watson. Hurston makes a point at the beginning of the novel to separate the male and female identities from one another. This is important for the reader to note. The theme for identity, as it relates to Janie, carefully unfolds as the story goes on to expand the depths of the female interior.
Throughout my life, I have strived to be a hard-working individual when it comes to school, my job, and family work. I always try to work quickly and efficiently, and make my work the best that it can be. Perfectionism is a major part of my life and that is one of the driving forces behind my hard work. Sometimes the drive to be perfect can limit my results, but I try my hardest to keep it from restricting me. I always give one hundred percent when it comes to completing various tasks, and find pride in being a hard-worker.
The pressure can come from the need to make minimum wage money or a parent deciding on what their kids need to do financially. When choosing something to take interest in, they are content and adore what they do. Love for their work profession encourages a positive attitude and this is needed for productivity. When an employee loves what they do, they attain constructive behavior. But, when productivity is sacrificed, it begins to suffer with negative employees who only work to make a change.
