streamers, chocolates, presents, random wishes from relatives you dont even know that existed, the one day you dont have to wear that school uniform you dread except in my case you do cause mine is in the middle of exam week, that one day your parents make an effort not to yell at you, the one day youve got all the attention and those constant demands saying im your friend no i want 4 chocolates that too hersheys and most importantly cake. what do all of these have in common?

the Romans were the first civilization to celebrate birthdays for non-religious figures. Romans would celebrate birthdays for friends and families, while the government created public holidays to observe the birthdays of more famous citizens.

We have to thank the Germans for introducing the contemporary birthday celebrations, which included a cake. They started the ‘kinderfeste’, where children were honoured with a celebration on their birthday, especially on their first birthday.
