Human trafficking is very big within Spain. It is particularly bad for women because the women that are picked up by human traffickers are used as sex slaves. Smuggling is also a very big problem, which includes drugs and people. The some of the police can be very corrupt, so one should be very careful about their surroundings and who he/she relies on. Thieves will use the good nature for people to steal. Often setting up a mock flat tire and asking for help while someone steals from the unsuspecting person. Tourist are recommended to leave important documents such as passports and large sums of money in a safe area while traveling in tourist areas. Thieves are known to use the cover of the crowd to pickpocket tourist (Global Road Warrior). These things might limit one’s experience

Pickpocketing is major problem especially, in big cities. Sometimes pickpockets will wear suits, to lull tourist into a sense of trust then steal from them (Global Road Warrior). Tourist should watch out for groups of people with children, this is a common scam where something is spilled on the victim and under the pretense of cleaning object are stolen. Some people will dress up as police officers while holding a sign that reads police, the fake officers will then stop tourist and in perfect English will ask to see official items such as money and passports. Tourist should also mind what they eat and drink, there has been many reports of people using drugs to assault or rob tourist at restaurants or clubs (Global Road Warrior.) To be safe tourist should always ask to see an officer’s identification before complying with any requests. Experiences such as this could put a damper on anyone’s
