Pretty much everyone around me has struggled with the loss of a loved one close to them, except for me. A lot of my friends struggles throughout high school from the loss of a friend, grandparent, or a close relative. I never really knew what that was like until my last day of high school. And on the last day, my life completely changed, and what was supposed to be one of the happiest times of my life turned out to be the worst. Growing up in my family was somewhat different. My parents are both very kind hearted. My dad works a lot so he gets home later, and my mom stayed at home while I was in middle and high school. I feel that I value all of the relationships I have more. After everything, I became extremely close with my sister, which is a bond I have always wanted to have with her. We talk every day, and even went on vacation together. She also just got married last weekend, and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. The relationship that we have developed has for sure been one of the main things that have helped me get through it when it seemed like being upset was never ending. We both talk about it together which really helps us both. Also, coming to Radford has been a major key in moving past it all. At first, when I decided to come to Radford I was not looking forward to it at all. I did not want to leave home, or high school. I loved my hometown and my school, I became extremely involved in everything in my community during high school. I was a leader in every club and organization I was a part of in school.
