As you grow up, your dreams change. You experience many different situations that impact your life in positive and negative ways. My whole life my future careers, goals, and dreams have never completely been the same, but one thing that has always stayed is my desire to be successful in whatever I do in life. I believe that this scholarship will help me to do just that. Jack Robbins believed destiny to be a choice and not something left up to chance. I strongly believe that I can utilize this scholarship to dictate my destiny in many ways. For me, one thing that I have always prided myself on has been my work ethic. I have always worked hard in school and I understand that if you want something, you must work for it. One of my goals that I have had since middle school is to go to college. This is something that neither of my parents have done. I have realized that in order to reach this milestone I must have a good work ethic because without it I would not be able to go to college. This is an example of how destiny is a choice and not something left up to chance. I …show more content…
Being a positive person can not only affect your own perspective of life but it can also affect others as well. Having a positive outlook on life is very important because there are going to be moments in life where you may feel that you are in your lowest valley of life, but if you keep a positive attitude you will quickly discover ways to make that “lowest valley” turn into your highest mountain. I feel that having a positive perspective on life is very important when it comes to dictating your destiny because you are going to fail many times before you succeed and your positive attitude will help keep pushing on until you reach your goal. Consequently, I believe that I can utilize this scholarship by using my positive mindset of life to dictate my destiny and reach my goals even if I go through tough
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
My contribution to the scholarship aspect will come from my maintaining my high GPA. As well as, continuing to grow my commitment to learning by being eager to do my best academically. Contributing to leadership, I will step out to aid others. I shall lead by example, promoting a well-rounded influence on my surrounding peers. I desire to become more involved with leadership roles, and strive to create more opportunities to lead and be responsible for myself. As for character, I will uphold my moral standards, maintain a positive attitude and demeanor towards others, be encouraging to those around me, and remain honest and hardworking. Lastly, for service I will continue to devote time into volunteering and providing help for those who need it in my surrounding community. I’d be able to find a suitable medium to taking on the extra commitment of NHS. Most of the activities I do outside school would be continued, but they would now be done under the values of NHS, such as my extracurriculars and service
I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I am passionate about making a difference in as many lives as I possibly can. As someone who is also passionate about having a successful future, I believe that achieving this scholarship will allow me to pursue these passions and attain my academic goals of going to graduate school to get my PhD and become a Clinical Psychologist, possibly transfer to UGA as a junior, and to be responsible with my money and the way that I spend it.
Growing up my parents had always been the type to direct me in the right path from a very young age. They would constantly show me the proper procedures in life and direct me towards the path the leads greatest to success. Throughout the countless years of their teachings, they had an ultimate goal set, and that goal was to make me commit to that specific path. Growing up I saw how my father's life was, and at a young age, he was my role model. I had always wanted to become successful in life, and in the previous maturing years, i realized that i did not want to be like my father, but an even better and more successful person than my father could ever become.
Scholarship is very fundamental, it requires a lot of ambition and a desire to learn in order to accomplish important goals. Thanks to this pillar I have created a willingness to be successful, outstanding, able put everything aside so the focus can be on knowledge, and put 100% of my effort in everything I do.
With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life, a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I will be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself achieve our ultimate goals for the near future.
With a scholarship, it can help me shape my dreams in being the first in my family to obtain a bachelor’s degree. With that degree, I would like to major in communications and be able to focus in broadcasting work in both the radio and television fields. I possess the skill of hard work. It shows in every aspect of my life from my desolate upbringing to my noted academic work which has placed me on the President’s/Dean’s list on several occasions and even into my volunteer work which has netted me hundreds of cumulative hours within the college. A scholarship would only help me further my overall success and bring all of my goals to
My passion for public service initiated in my third grade reading class. It was there that I volunteered for “Reading Together USA”, a program to help younger children learn to read. The joy and delight that I felt from witnessing my students’ progress was unprecedented to any feeling that I ever felt before, and I knew from that point forward that my life would be committed to serving the public. Although my forms (TRYING TO SAY WAYS LIKE 1st pre-med then law) of serving others may have changed, the trend of service has remained constant through high school, college, and even my career.
My paternal grandmother who grew me up taught me to be a fighter and to always fight for my dreams. Learning English has being the hardest obstacle I had to overcome, but not enough to stop me from keep fighting to reach my goals and dreams. Now, that I am in my way to a professional life I know how hard this will be because of my economy resources to pay for a university tuition and fees, but as always I am ready to overcome this one as I did with the others. The main reason why I want to be a Vice president of scholarships is because I know that out there like me there are others students who have the same fear I do; not having the possibility to assist to a 4 year university because of the money. Filling out scholarships is the best opportunity we have to get money to pay for our college tuition and fees.
Although I did not expect college to change my life immensely, I have noticed small things begin to take place that have never occurred before. I no longer take all of the times I see my family for granted, but rather take advantage of those times. Studying for tests no longer seems to be a “breeze,” but rather something that requires comprehension and full attention. I can no longer rely on a close friend to have assignments I may have missed, but I have learned to become more independent and take care of my own responsibilities. Now that I am away from home throughout the week and work on the weekends, I do not take any of the times I get to see my family for granted.
Money, success, and status are the basis of most goals for the youth of today, which you know from all the applications you read for these scholarships. For me though, my goals are geared towards others, especially because I want to go into the field of medicine, a topic dedicated to selflessness and aiding those in need. My interest began when I was first accepted into my prestigious, application based, magnet high school. This school has a dedicated faculty and curriculum oriented towards healthcare allowing me to be exposed to the knowledge and experience that shape a physician.
After grants, students’ biggest hopes can be to receive scholarships, but large scholarships are rare and difficult to acquire. Full scholarships are almost impossible to receive and smaller scholarships seldom cover enough of the cost of college for that college to be an affordable option. Even if one is valedictorian in high school and receives superb SAT/ACT scores, a helpful scholarship is not guaranteed and they may be forced to live at home and attend the neighborhood college instead of attending a school they worked hard to be accepted to. It has also been proven that colleges give students from lower-class families smaller scholarships and grants than students from upper class families (Sklar 326). Many students receive small scholarships
Throughout my high school career, I’ve been recognized as a well rounded student. I engage myself in team related sports that require teamwork and reliability, extracurricular activities that require responsibility and patience, all while managing to keep up with my academics. During my freshman year of highschool, I’ve dedicated my time and hard work to all activities offered by my former high school located in Marshall, Alaska. I was apart of the volleyball team, girls basketball team, and a native youth olympics athlete.
