I, Gifford Pinchot was a man who was interested in the conservation of forests. I turned down the opportunity to be in my family business to go to France to study my passion in forestry. While studying my passion in Europe, I became a covert to the practice selective harvesting of forest resources. Using my knowledge, I returned to America and went to Yale. Shortly before I entered Yale my father posed a question that would change my life: "How would you like to be a forester?" (wilderness.net). After Yale, I became the head of the division of forestry in 1898. Also I was named Chief Forester of the Refined U.S. Forest Service.
