Eisenhower: Building America In War And Peace Eisenhower, born into a working class family, and experiencing hardships in adolescence, grew up to have the mind and ability to change the country. Not only did he fight for America, people adored him, and won two elections by a landslide. He was inspiring with his Atoms for Peace speech. He also solved corruption between foreign countries. Eisenhower also signed off on the most scientific facility we have in the USA, NASA. Eisenhower was born into a large working class family. He was born October 14, 1980 in Denison, Texas, to David Jacob Eisenhower and Ida Elizabeth Stover Eisenhower (“Dwight D. Eisenhower Biography”, n.d.). Dwight was the third of seven sons. Eisenhower had just recently recovered from a heart attack before the re-election. Dwight continued to promote his “Atoms for Peace” speech. Dwight dealt with the crisis in Lebanon and the Suez. A great legacy comes to an end. Eisenhower retired from presidency in 1961. Dwight retired to a farmhouse in Gettysburg, with his wife Mamie. When he left office, his successor, President Kennedy, reactivated his commission. Eisenhower died on March 28, 1969, at Walter Reed Army hospital in Washington DC, from a series of heart attacks( Boyer, 2005). The funeral was held in the State’s capital, a military one was held at his hometown, Abilene, Kansas. Eisenhower was a president that changed our nation. He signed off for NASA, he created America’s Interstate Highway System, He served in WW2, and became a face for America. He fought and built America in war and peace.
