Columbus’s vision and voyage to the “New “ World brought in the modern age, and changed the world drastically. Columbus left a mark on the changing world and started the age of exploration. Possibly, Columbus’s largest impact was the “Columbian Exchange”. Columbus’s vision also led to the slave trade. Columbus changed the world by influencing finance, exploration, and medicine that are still here today. Columbus also altered the world in both positive and negative ways. Columbus and his followers enslaved many native inhabitants of the West Indies and subjected them to extreme violence and brutality. In an era in which the international slave trade was starting to grow, Columbus’s positive views on slavery made it very popular in the world. In his journal, Columbus stated that he seized the “Indians”, because they would be good servants. He also forced the “Indians” to become Christians.
