On July 20th 2012 a lone gunman later identified later as James Holmes entered Century 16 Movie Theater in Aurora, Colorado to inflict deliberate harms against civilians with no identifiable reasoning. Holmes, dressed from head to toe in body armor opened fire on a crowd of 70 moviegoers, killing 12 thus labeling this event as a mass shooting. Within 60 seconds, James Holmes was able cause anarchy before police apprehend him. Live theatre can be described as a live performance performed by actors and actresses on stage in front of a live audience. Live theatre mainly consists of a stage, effects, lights, and props. Live theatre is composed of scenes, which include comedy, tragedy, action, and romance. The costumes, effects, and props increase the entertainment level for the audience. My experience watching a live theatre performance on stage was a fascinating one, most especially since it was my first time. I attended a staged performance of “The History Boys” in a small theatre called “The Little Theatre of Alexandria” at 8:00 pm on Wednesday June 8, 2016 in Alexandria, Virginia. The overall production of the play was a resounding experience for me particularly the performance of the actors and the design of the scene made the play seem real.
In a movie theater, there are experiences that some will not have while at home and watching Netflix, such as the enormous screen, comfortable movie theater seating, and the theater speakers. Netflix can be used in a causal way with friends, but the main purpose of watching a movie is enjoying the experiences one can get from the movie itself.
