Hillary Clinton, the first female nominee of a major party, and Donald Trump, a political outsider whose brash style disconcerted the paradigm of a traditional party nominee, endeavor to defeat one another in the race for the White House. Both face ups and down and both attempt to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.
One strength Hillary Clinton possesses is her vast political experience. Her lengthy resume speaks volumes to her knowledge of the issues and proves her readiness to be president to many voters. Her experience as Secretary of State allows Clinton to boast about being a stable hand in the rapidly changing global climate of today, therefore she must relate her experience to being a steady leader. Her time at the Children’s Defense Fund bolsters her on social issues and improves her humanity and likability. Also, her experience can be emphasized by means of high-profile endorsements, like that of Barack Obama, who called her one of the most qualified candidates in history (Bump). This brought a lot of new people to Trump in the campaign, who like that he is the anti-establishment candidate who might bring about real change in Washington. Specifically, he can appeal to a group sometimes referred to as “Brick Voters”, a group noted as wanting to “throw a brick” at establishment politics (Hains). The fact he is an outsider appeals to these people who feel neglected by their government and traditional politicians. This point can be emphasized be doing two things: painting Clinton as a very establishment candidate, as she has been in politics her entire career, and associating Trump’s lack of political involvement with being an outsider and thus being capable of bringing change to
