High School Soccer Personal Narrative

Running, kicking, and defending. I still remember when I was running on the grass field day and night, cooperating with teammates in both heat and cold; despite the harsh condition and our total exhaustion, we always tried our best to score goals and win the game. Playing soccer was a very memorable time in my life. My involvement in High School Soccer has given me so much enjoyment, and experience through team association that I can never repay. For example, soccer gave me joy, excitement and most importantly, friendship. Soccer is the first sport that I have ever played and I played soccer for three years, but with much regret my senior year, I had to quit. I came to the United States from China in the year of 2012. As a newcomer in this country, I was new to the culture, environment, and language. Trying to adjust to a new environment wasn’t easy, I was like a fool in classes because I couldn’t understand any English. Due to the inability to speak English, I was required to take English to Speakers of Other Language (ESOL). In ESOL, I made my very first friend, Ankit. I was well prepared; this year, I made the varsity team. This year was quite different, being in varsity involved competitive training and playing. Every time I wanted to take it easy, I would think about our coach. He must have endured so much to get to his level of competency. Everyone else on the team must have felt the same way. With our teamwork, we made it to state, and it was my first time to advance to the state soccer competition as a player. The moment we won the first round of state games, we were all filled with joy. Everyone hugged together and celebrated our victory. We even ice bucketed coach
