Recommended: Positive and negative aspects of the transition from high school to college

The transition from high school to college, can be one of the most exciting, yet overwhelming time for a student. Every year, when it’s time for seniors to make a decision for college, one factor that is always in the back of their minds, is tuition. Tuition rises every year, and unfortunately it is part of the reason why students alter their college choices; such as going to a community college. Although many may argue that the price for college is worth the investment, the high costs of college puts a lot of stress on students. Students attempt to manage both jobs and schooling, however the result of that appears on their work ethic can negatively impact them. Starting college is an exciting step for a student; it’s the introduction to a whole new environment that contributes to the sculpting of their character. However, it can also be one of the most stressful times for them due to tuition being a constant bother that has to be kept in a college student’s back pocket. College tuition rises and has become more expensive than in the past. The organization, College Board, released an article called “Highlights for Trends in College Pricing” which stated that “tuition and fees at private nonprofit four-year colleges rose by an average of 2.4% per year…” Every year, a new set of students enter the world of college, however they are hit with the reality that college is expensive and it's continuing to grow year after year. The high prices leave students in debt, which can have an impact when it comes to choosing a school. A research program called Higher Education Research institute, provides information on current college students and therefore shares their feedback that “a percentage of students indicating that cost was a "very important" factor in their college-choice process reached its highest point (45.9
