Journey to Dentistry: A High School Perspective

Thinking of my future is quite intimidating for reality necessitates responsibility, understanding, and an expedient mindset. As I step onto a collegiate platform and widen my horizons, I will maintain a healthy mentality and the determination to achieve any future goals. The four years of high school have prepared me on an academic level as I challenge myself to various Honors and AP courses. I have taken AP classes such as US History, Calculus AB, Language and Composition, Studio Arts, Statistics, Biology, Chinese, and Literature and Composition. I realized much of my comfort zone revolves around English and Science based courses, which suits my pursuit for Dentistry. Many of the school organizations and club activities, such as presidential positions in FBLA and State Treasurer or NJASA, have contributed to the development of my personality: outspoken and social. I am also currently a Class Officer, FBLA Vice President, Student Council President, and National Honor Society Public Relations. I will apply to Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, and to be accepted into the Four-Year Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program. This program will offer opportunities, such as clinic and faculty practices, to learn through the guidance of experienced Dentists of Boston. Once I completed the four-year program, I hope to continue in becoming an Orthodontist—totaling in 10 years of schooling—through Boston University’s Advanced Orthodontic Training Program that will fully certify me. This postdoctoral program will be difficult to be accepted into, but it will give me the training I would need to become a reliable orthodontist.
