One of my first friends in college is Henessy. I met her in English 48 class and become friends when we was assigned to do a homework together. Although that was the first time we talked to each other, I like Henessy immediately because of her friendliness and cheerful personality. She is an inspiring person because although she had a tough childhood with the divorce of her parent and her evil disease, she always live positively with a lot of hobbies and eager to archieve the dream of finding the cure for her disease. Henessy was first borned in San Diego but her family decided to move to Michigan when she was six. She does not remember much about the time in Michigan except the divorce of her parents. After the divorce, Henessy and her sister and her mother moved to Iowa where she had the most memorable time in childhood. She changed form school to school and made a lot of good friends who she still keeps in touch with now. One of the most memorable moment was when Henessy won a reward in a design competition in which her design t-shirt was chosen to use for fund-raising event. Since then, she has discovered the artistic side of herself. Henessy most favorite activities are drawing and singing. She wants to get register nurse degree then goes to a medical school to become a doctor. When she was a child, because of the heart murmur, which she was diagnosed, Henessy had gone through a lot. She had gotten strip throat 3 times, then it developed into mononucleosis then the bacteria infected one of my heart valves. Fortunately, things get better but that is one of the reason Henessy choose to enter the field of heart doctor to find cures for heart diseases. She is gonna spend four years in San Diego college before transfering to a medical school to pursuit her
Lallie was a kind soul. Talking to her was like talking to a good friend. I enjoyed and agreed with her outlook on life. I would be proud to be her friend.
Karen Horney was born September 16, 1885, to Clotilde and Berndt Wackels Danielson. Her father was a ship's captain, a religious man, and an authoritarian. Her mother, who was known as Sonni, was a very different person -- Berndt's second wife, 19 years his junior, and considerably more urbane. Horney's childhood was one of some distress. She felt like her father loved and respected her brother much more than he did of her. Yet he would take her on sea trips with him, and would buy gifts for her. She distanced her self from her father, and grew to recent him. She turned to her mother who gave her the love and respect that she desired.

As a nurse seeking my bachelor in nursing I have a lot of mentors in my career path. The person I choose to interview is my mentor name, Karen. In the process of her nursing career, she was influenced by her mentor to continue her education, in women's health because of her passion for young teens. Karen started her career in nursing at Grand Valley State University where she earned a Bachelor Degree in nursing. After having her BSN for many years, Karen decision to continue her education at Michigan State University where she received a Master degree in Nursing.
Her parents meet at a social gathering in town and where married shortly thereafter. Marie’s name was chosen by her grandmother and mother, “because they loved to read the list was quite long with much debate over each name.” If she was a boy her name would have been Francis, so she is very happy to have born a girl. Marie’s great uncle was a physician and delivered her in the local hospital. Her mother, was a housewife, as was the norm in those days and her father ran his own business. Her mother was very close with her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. When her grandmother was diagnosed with asthma the family had to move. In those days a warm and dry climate was recommended, Arizona was the chosen state. Because her grandma could never quite leave home, KY, the family made many trips between the states. These trips back and forth dominated Marie’s childhood with her uncles and aunts being her childhood playmates.
Once she graduates from GCU, she plans to obtain her CEN and eventually the Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) certification. She plans on becoming more involved in the Nurse Practice Council for the hospital and being an active member of the Shared Governance Committee.
She has participated in the Gifted and Talented Program for 4 years. During her junior year, she completed the nurse aide program and is now a Certified Nurse Aide. She is currently completing the Pharmacy
Mrs. Callaway has been my advocate for returning to school also. She sees in me what I do not see in myself at times. This is what I strive to be, I want to be that nurse that can help others return to school to pursue their dreams and goals. To walk in the steps of this amazing lady, would be a wonderful dream come true. To have the patience and dedication that she posses would be spectacular. I would love to run the unit as she does, without many nurse turn-overs. I would also like to run a unit where patients and families return to the unit just to say? thank-you?. Paula and I have been friends for a number of years now. Over the years, she has taught me the valuable lesson that friendship is the most important thing next to family. We have supported each other through good times and bad.
My immediate goals after completing this program is to take some time off from school, pay off our (additional) student loans, and when the time is right possibly evaluate the feasibility of pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Healthcare Administration or continue on in trying to obtain my Master 's Degree in Nursing. All my life ,I’ve always wanted to be someone in life who can actually make a difference to this world in a positive way. Ever since I was a little girl I pushed myself to always best I can be just . I lived in a town outside Los Angeles, California , it was called Van Nuys,California.The elementary school (Kittridge Elementary) I had went to was in a low income area, mainly spanish community had lived in the area I was living in at the time .I had a lot of friends (mainly mexicans) I focused a lot on being on time for school , staying on task in class, and finishing my homework. At such a young age I had felt such ambition and was doing very good for myself. At the age of 10 was when reality start to really hit me , even though I was very young I started to see things differently.
After countless hours of uncomfortable naps and tasteless meals between flights, we finally arrived at the unfamiliar land of America. Leaving all our dear friends and families behind, I was told that we came here in hope of a better future, my future specifically. I was never really socially active and at the time, English was a whole new concept that I have yet to understand. The inability to communicate with other makes it even harder for me to express myself and it mold my personality to become more antisocial than I ever was. There’s always this uneasy feeling that linger when someone talk to me and I cannot give them a response and it’s even harder to say something because I was afraid of making a mistake and make a fool out of myself.
“Why don’t you use your locker? You’re going to have back problems before you even graduate”. These are words that are repeated to me daily, almost like clockwork. I carry my twenty-pound backpack, full of papers upon papers from my AP classes. The middle pouch of my backpack houses my book in which I get lost to distract me from my unrelenting stress. The top pouch holds several erasers, foreshadowing the mistakes I will make - and extra lead, to combat and mend these mistakes. Thick, wordy textbooks full of knowledge that has yet to become engraved in my brain, dig the straps of my backpack into my shoulders. This feeling, ironically enough, gives me relief - my potential and future success reside in my folders and on the pages of my notebooks.
