Healthcare is an organization of professionals, that work together, to care for individuals in need. Policy changes on how care is provided, along with procedures and many other factors, which require strategic planning. This is a process, which is planned out based on the managers style. Each manager has their own style of leadership skills, that will determine how the planning process takes place, which will also determine how the implementation of the changes take place. She went from managing three hospitals to managing four hospitals, taking on more tasks then planned. She had initially had an open-door policy, which resulted in many individuals dropping by, to discuss issues or just talking. Due to the open-door policy, this placed her behind in other tasks, such as returning phone calls and emails. Jane needed to prioritize her tasks, of a manager to begin with, which would help keeping her on task. Another issue that I see in this scenario was that, Jane was picking up shifts on top of her daily work, which resulted in overworking. This helps with laying out of the plan, processing, and implementation of the plan. Looking at the issue with continuity of care, along with the different theories, the Rogers change model best fits this resolution. First, having knowledge of the issue, which is continuity of care. Persuading others that this indeed an issue with getting the patient scheduled, along with follow up. Establishing the plan, by creating how this problem is going to be fixed. In this situation, updating the primary care provider when the patient is being seen, or calling in. This will help with the implementation phase. By up dating this information, this will help the scheduling staff schedule this patient with their primary provider, which will help with compliance of their care and treatment.
