Health Professional: From my young age, I had a passion of working in a medical field. I did not know what I exactly wanted to do, but I was always fascinated by how the doctors, nurses and medical professional dressed, and by how they treated and care the patients. My financial capabilities when I lived in the refugee camp outweighed my desire to work in medical settings, however, moving to the United States, fulfilled my dream. Additionally, getting an opportunity to further my education is also a reason why these identity bubble matters to me the most.
Should someone ignore one of my multicultural bubbles, I would feel very upset and disrespected as a result of which, I would start ignoring that person and his beliefs and values, as well. …show more content…

Because of the growing diversity due to the influx of immigrants and refugees in the United States, there is an increase in varying cultures present at a workplace and thus an increased need to learn each other’s culture. Aspects like holidays and color can have a huge impact on people of different cultures. For example, in most of the Asian cultures, the color white symbolizes death and mourning whereas it symbolizes winter, snow, images of purity and innocence, and brides in the wedding dress in the western countries. The majority of the Eastern countries have different holidays and they even celebrate those on different days than in the western countries. If these differences are not taken into considerations, it causes miscommunication, frustration, and failure of expected organizational outcomes and the same rule applies in a health care environment as well. Usually, patients come to the health care facilities sick and are already frustrated and they expect exceptional care and increased attention. Ignoring their identity can increase their frustration and they are highly likely to leave the facility against the medical advice. It can further create mistrust and a decreased hospital revenue in a long
