Did Adnan Syed kill Hae Min Lee?
On February 25th, 2000, Adnan Syed was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, via manual strangulation six weeks prior. Brutal right? So are false convictions. Adnan Syed did not murder Hae Min Lee nor did he have anything to do with her death. However, without a doubt, Jay Wilds, his alleged partner in crime, was involved.
According to the state, Adnan Syed had 21 minutes to lead Hae Min Lee to Best Buy, kill her, stuff her body in the trunk of her car, find a payphone, call Jay and wait for Jay to get there. This is all based on Jay Wilds account of January 13th, 1999. However, Wild’s account of that day consisted of many inconsistencies and lies. One of the biggest inconsistencies in Jay’s story would be his account of how Hae was handled right after her time of death, up until she was buried in Leakin Park. When Hae was found, there were signs of lividity, the process where after you die blood flow ceases and is drawn to the lowest point in the body. According to the autopsy report, the lividity shown was “present and fixed on the anterior surface of the body, except in areas exposed to pressure.” Which indicates that Hae's body was placed face down and stretched …show more content…

In, episode 4 of Serial, Sarah Koenig tells the listeners that Jay showed the police where Hae's car was dumped after her murder. This is significant in determining that Jay was deeply involved in Hae's murder because up until that point, the police were not aware of the car's location. Another piece of evidence that Jay was involved in her murder was when Jenn, Jay’s friend, told the police that she helped him get rid of his clothing and drive him to where he ditched the shovels so he could clean them off. An innocent person doesn’t get rid of stuff that could be deemed evidence. An innocent person also doesn’t know where a dead girl’s car was
