Did Adnan Syed kill Hae Min Lee?
On February 25th, 2000, Adnan Syed was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, via manual strangulation six weeks prior. Brutal right? So are false convictions. Adnan Syed did not murder Hae Min Lee nor did he have anything to do with her death. However, without a doubt, Jay Wilds, his alleged partner in crime, was involved.
According to the state, Adnan Syed had 21 minutes to lead Hae Min Lee to Best Buy, kill her, stuff her body in the trunk of her car, find a payphone, call Jay and wait for Jay to get there. This is all based on Jay Wilds account of January 13th, 1999. However, Wild’s account of that day consisted of many inconsistencies and lies. One of the biggest inconsistencies in Jay’s story would be his account of how Hae was handled right after her time of death, up until she was buried in Leakin Park. When Hae was found, there were signs of lividity, the process where after you die blood flow ceases and is drawn to the lowest point in the body. In, episode 4 of Serial, Sarah Koenig tells the listeners that Jay showed the police where Hae's car was dumped after her murder. This is significant in determining that Jay was deeply involved in Hae's murder because up until that point, the police were not aware of the car's location. Another piece of evidence that Jay was involved in her murder was when Jenn, Jay’s friend, told the police that she helped him get rid of his clothing and drive him to where he ditched the shovels so he could clean them off. Adnan is convicted of committing homicide, which he didn’t do, should not be in jail. This is for 3 main accounts; if something important happens a person remembers that day, Jay knew where Hae’s car was, and by how Sarah and her friend go by the day Jay described.

Hae Min Lee was a 18 year old teenager at Woodlawn High School when she suddenly disappeared and then later found dead in Leakin Park. Serial is a podcast along with Undisclosed that goes in depth to look at the investigation through the case and to prove Adnan Syed innocent. Adnan Syed was a 17 year old muslim kid who went to Woodlawn High, he was also and track and lived life day by day pretty normal. Adnan's friend Jay claims he helped him bury the body of Hae and he becomes a main witness and every time he is interviewed his story changes up a bit. Adnan is wrongfully convicted there are so many signs that he is innocent.
A lot of evidence that I found really helped to convince me of whom the true killer/murderer was. In my belief on who killed Hae Min Lee;is Adnan Syed. One of the reasons why I believe that he is, is because Adnan had an acquaintance friend named Jay Wild that and which out of nowhere picked Adnan up and they were talking in the car. Also that ride led them to Best Buy in which where Hae Min Lee’s death took place. But as Adnan’s appearance at school so his friends say are “nice,honor student, football player,TrackStar” and a really good person and would never think that he would do that.

If Jay tells us the truth, he brings Adnan to school, holds onto Adnan’s cellphone and car so he could pick Adnan up when Adnan calls; picks Adnan up after he committed the murder, cruises around with Adnan, and brings Adnan to track practice. Additionally, Jay cruises around with Adnan in the afternoon, accompanies Adnan to LeakIn park and aids Adnan in digging the hole to bury Hae. Which criminal incriminates oneself? When Jay speaks about picking up Adnan he says: “I noticed that Hae wasn't with him. I parked next to him. He asked me to get out the car. I get out the car. He asks me, am I ready for this? And I say, ready for what? And he takes the keys. He opens the trunk. And all I can see is Hae's lips are all blue, and she's pretzeled up in the back of the trunk. And she's dead.” Jay goes to pick up Adnan from the actual murder and describes the episode in detail. Jay uses short sentences for dramatic effect, and speaks confidently, which is unusual when incriminating
