Do you think that the Federal Government should be able to take our guns away? I know I don’t want them to. Many people want guns because of protection against criminals. Others want them for recreation, and insecurity. Many gun owners feel naked without their firearm because they are vulnerable (theguardian.com).
Numerous people believe that if you ban guns, there will be fewer deaths. However that's not the case. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Guns are just a way to kill someone. If you put a gun in a mentally unstable person or a serial killer perhaps, you don’t think that they will kill someone. Down in Texas you can open carry (your gun doesn’t have to be concealed). That's why Texas has one of the lowest crime rates in the US. The murder in 2014 in Texas is 4.4 per 100,000 people compared to Illinois at 5.3 (disastercenter.com). If the government takes away our guns it is violating our 2nd Amendment. I feel like guns make people if they are educated about how they work.

The case was District of Columbia v. Heller and was decided on June 25th, 2008. The District of Columbia Code made it illegal to carry an unregistered firearm and prohibited the registration of handguns. The Chief of Police could issue one-year licences for handguns. Dick Heller was a D.C. special police officer, and he was authorized to carry a handgun when he was on duty. He was applying for a 1 year license that he wanted to keep at home but they denied him. Heller did sue the District of Columbia. So if he was authorized to have a gun on duty he shouldn’t have that right taken away to have a gun for self defense at home
Secondly, no citizen should have guns. I think if citizens that believe guns should be allowed because of our Constitution's 2nd amendment about "The right to bear arms" they are wrong. The 2nd amendment was part of the Bill of Rights (First 10 amendments) in September of 1789. In 1789, the US was different, people could bear arms because there was no police, there were wars, and they needed to hunt for their food. Back than they even had laws about Housing Soldiers, now the situation has changed and we need to realize that.

For hundreds of years Americans have been growing up with the notion that it is a right to own a gun. Since the creation of the second amendment, people all over the United States have been able to guns for private use. Guns operated by the public are said to have a variety of uses such as, being able to protect oneself if conflict arises, grants the ability to put food on the table, and are used in competitions shooting targets against other people. But for many people guns have been seen as the root of all evil. Anti-gun users think that guns cause a variety of unexpected and innocent deaths. They also think that there are not enough laws in place that allow just about anyone to purchase a gun. The question of should guns be legal to all citizens has plagued our society. Do you think it is morally right for anyone to arm themselves and use it when they deem it to be necessary? Or do you think that the 2rd amendment seem unnecessary and outdated law that needs to be rewritten? These questions are just two of many that have thrown back and forth between pro-gun and anti-gun users.
Should the government outlaw handguns? This has been a controversial point for many years. There are those who argue: yes handguns should be banned because it gives guns to the criminal, its dangerous in households and the Second Amendment was intended for militia. However, others argue that handguns should not be banned because they are in the second amendment, for self protection, and for the fact that they are already restricted so that not just anybody can own a handgun. Gun control does not decrease crime. With or without guns people will still find ways to harm others and even with a gun ban people will still find away to either make or buy a gun illegally. With a gun control law in place there is no good way for citizens to protect themselves. Even though some may say it that it will stop some of the crime, there are many reasons that prove that gun control doesn't decrease crime.
From a consensus from 2008, there were over 16,000 murders in the United States, and from these 16,000 murders, 10,000 were from firearms alone (Gun Control – Just Facts). Some of these murders happen over unnecessary arguments. It’s impossible to confiscate every single gun from every American that owns one.
