My Journey To India

One summer around 2010, my family received a phone call from India inviting us to one of my cousin’s wedding in India. That was a precious moment for me as I saw the happiness in my parent’s eyes. Their eyes filled with tears of happiness as they finally got an opportunity to take a break from stressful life and meet my grandparents after six years. Even though we have made a foreign country our new home, there is no greater feeling in the world than returning to my motherland India. This trip impacted my life greatly and strengthened my roots to India. The next morning everyone got busy packing their bags for the trip. I was only thirteen years old at that time so I did not have to do much packing as my parents took care of all my stuff. I could literally sense the happiness in the atmosphere around the house. I was also very happy and excited to go back home to India and meet my grandparents and my friends with whom I spent my entire childhood and went to school with for about ten years. Taj Mahal was made by Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, it is a monument of immeasurable beauty and love. It was the true beauty of white marble and the most peaceful place I have ever visited. Next, we went to the All India War Memorial or better known as India Gate which is a war memorial that commemorates the 90,000+ Indian soldiers that died in World War I. It was the most majestic and iconic structure and the sprawling lawn adds to the charm of the place. It was one of my proudest moment as I got chance to appreciate the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. After leaving there, we visited several other historical monuments like The Golden Temple, Gateway of India, and Qutb Minar.
