Globalization: Cultural Interaction and Integration on a Global Scale
The process by which people, companies, and governments of different nations interact and integrate with one another is known as globalization. This process is driven by both international trade and investment, aided by technology. The effects go beyond business and finance, in fact, all aspects of culture, politics, the environment and the health of human beings are affected by globalization. (The Levin Institute, 2015)
The paradoxical dichotomy of globalization and cultural diversity are, on one hand, globalization provides third world cultures, and nations in conflict, the potential to become empowered through interaction with stronger, more stable cultures. One the other hand, it can also lead to the disempowerment of people in weaker nations by stronger nations with negative influences and motives of colonization that will deprive the native cultures of their identity. It has affected everything from art and dance to education and politics. “In the same way, countries from the west part of the Globe are welcoming yoga and meditation of East in their lifestyle and are benefitted in one or another way.” (Sonam, 2015) In many ways, knowledge cultures force society to reconsider old beliefs, dated cultural stereotypes and reconsider their differences. Ignorance leads to fear, conflict, and misinterpretations of cultural differences and similarities. Knowledge can bring nations to a better understanding of one another and encourage the development of stronger relationships, promote goodwill, and encourage trade, all of which help bring about a more stable and peaceful global
