Gender Issues Reflective Writing
This is a significant topic that Christians need to pay attention. It is quite challenging topic. I truly believe that Christians must recognize and understand the issue and the medications as someone comes to fill a prescription. To reinforces my point, Christians should not hide themselves, and articulate this to a Christian World View.
Some Christians oppose to view gender as a matter of choice at the cultural and legal level. We should realize that all of this makes people deeply offended. Nobody who has experienced gender discomfort is trying to win the cultural war. Charlotte Clymer’s story is a good example how we, as Christians, must show love for them, exist for them, are ready to hear their voices, and understand the pain they face. Gender discomfort is a conflict that Christian must be aware and be careful facing transgenderism as a social movement.

However, I believe that transgender movement is a philosophical argument, not a truth. As Christian’s perspective, it cannot be truth in any form. The stories about women in the bible illustrate the importance of their role and contribution to society. Women were slaves, concubines, and child bearers; they were also wives, matriarchs, and prophets. Although, some women had less important titles than others each served a purpose. Even if the Bible does not explain God’s relationship with women as with Moses and other prophets, it illustrates the love and dedication women had for Him. The scriptures describe brave, nurturing, and God fearing women whose decisions impacted the existence of the Israelites.
Transgenders confront numerous issues while applying for the college. In “Trans Women at Smith: The Complexities of Checking ‘Female'”, the author, Sarah Fraas, utilizes sentiment, a few logos, and one individual's story to effectively persuade the gathering of people that something should be done to enable transgenders to go to the school they need to go to.
In her article, “Feminist Hermeneutics and Biblical Studies”, Phyllis Trible discusses the issues centered toward women in the bible (Trible). She addresses issues not just concerning equality, but also how men viewed women in biblical times. Trible examines the role of women in the bible, and the misconception they carry, that leads many into harms way.
For this reason, many masculine females or lesbians are excluded from this primary condition. Karla Fay Tucker made it clear that she fit this qualification through her marriage to the prison chaplain, Dana Brown. Not only did this show she was heterosexual, but it also showed that she was in fact some kind of “woman of God”. In our Judeo-Christian society, this is another condition for empathy. This marriage to a holy man sealed the image of being a born-again Christian for Tucker.
An abundance of transgenders are finally identifying as their true gender in our generation. In fact, in the United States alone, there are 700,000 transgenders (Gates 2011). However, our generation isn’t welcoming these true identities, but shaming them. Though, it is incredible that slowly the idea of transgenders is becoming more acceptable, the amount of hate and harassment these human beings receive is unacceptable. I have been taught that Christianity is a loving religion that cares for all, But this is not always the case. Upon reading, among other theological works, “Quest for the Living God” by Elizabeth A. Johnson, it becomes apparent that Christianity has been used to systematically marginalize women throughout history despite the teachings of the Bible. While it might not be intentional, the negative treatment of Women has been ingrained into Christian teachings over hundreds of years.
“When trannies were growing up and coming of age-there was no place for us. We were kinda put on the fringes of society...the real safe space for us was out there on the streets” (Trans Views). OR “Gender is a universe and we are all stars” (Lacey Roop). Transgenderism can be best described as moving away from the gender assigned at birth. This can mean wearing the clothes, taking on the roles, and assuming the pronouns of a gender designated at birth, or rejecting gender entirely . Gender variance and transgenderism, although seen commonly throughout human history, are seen as unnatural and an insult to the sex that God “gave”. Many believe that sex and gender is the same thing, and therefore assume that one that is biologically female is a woman, and one that is biologically male is a man. There is a common misunderstanding that transgenderism is an expression of homosexuality, assuming that the trans person is straight. Sometimes, transgender is seen as a gender of its own, excluding transmen and transwomen from their own gender.

Transgender Today Nowadays, there are lot of unexpected changes coming in our lives every day which are challenging to our society. Gender issues are one of the hot topics among new changes. Transsexuality is a critical part of this gender issue. After reading the article “Night to his day” by Judith Lorber, I found a clarification regarding the social construction of gender. While looking for some facts about transgender, I have also found a lot of articles with different points of views from researchers, scientists and individuals who have transformed from their origin to transgender men/women.
Sexism in Christianity is a hotly debated topic, and so is whether, if, the teachings of the bible portray sexism to be acceptable, is it fair to carry those teachings into todays changed society? I will look at the teachings of the Bible and Christian culture to investigate this point. On the one hand, there is a heap of evidence to say that the bible, which certainly devout Christians follow completely tells them to be sexist is right. This spans from a range of sources including the bible itself.
Currently the citizens living in the United States are imprisoned within the binary of two genders. It is only acceptable for a person to identify as a male or a female. Depending on the gender the person identifies, as there is an expectation of how that person should look and act. The person identifying as the specific gender, must maintain the gender norms that are in place. These gender binaries are so prevalent in our lives; it is to the point where a large group of Americans are being overlooked.
