This is the most preferred recommendation to the couple as it allows for the more natural kind of fertilisation for the couple, however, GIFT has a success rate of twenty to thirty percent which is less than the second recommendation; IVF (refer to below). GIFT is similar to IVF in the first step of the process as it is to encourage the woman’s ovaries to release several eggs at once. Hormone medication is used to stimulate the woman’s ovaries. Unlike IVF (seen below) it allows the uterus more tie to build up a lining to support the embryo, not only this but it allows the couple the closet to natural fertilisation as possible while still preventing the possible transfer of DMD to the future possible child. However, due to the laparoscopy there is a lower chance of success as the cut can cause issues with the conception not only this but the fallopian tubes must have no issues.
As GIFT is rarely preferred in Australia unless requested there is no available information on costs unless an appointment is booked, however, the maximum cost in America for this procedure is roughly $20,000 which translates into roughly $27,000 Australian. IVF Australia and City Fertility Centre do offer this procedure and appointments for exact costs can be made if this is a preferred
