In the play “A Midsummer Night's Dream” by William Shakespeare Choice and Fate have a big impact on Demetrius's pursuit in love because he loved Helena but then fell in love with Hermia but he was forced to love Helena because Oberon forced him with magic.

In the play Demetrius pursuit of love was impacted due to his choices because he chose to love Hermia instead of Helena even though he once loved Helena. He says this in Act 1 Scene i “I’ll avouch it to his head,Made love to Nedar’s daughter, Helena,And won her soul. And she, sweet lady, dotes,Devoutly dotes, dotes in idolatry Upon this spotted and inconstant man.” But he met Hermia and he loved Hermia so he dumped Helena for Hermia and he says this in Act 1 Scene i “Relent, sweet Hermia: and,Lysander, yield Thy crazed title to my certain right.” in these quotes I chose Demetrius made the choices to change his Pursuit of lovers and so this shows us that Demetrius chose to love Helena in the beginning and even made love to her but then he made arrangements with Egeus to marry Hermia and so he dumped Helena and he made those choices and …show more content…

Towards the end of the play Demetrius love Helena again and it says this in Act 4 scene 1 “I’m not sure how it happened—but somehow, something made my love for Hermia melt away like snow. My past love for Hermia now seems like a memory of some cheap toy I used to love as a child. Now the only person I love, and believe in, and want to look at, is Helena” and in Act 4 scene 1 “These couples will be married along with me and Hippolyta in the temple later today.” This is proof that Fate impacted Demetrius's love life because he says Somehow he come to love Helena and not Hermia and Fate decided Demetrius would be with Helena for the rest of their lives because they were to be wed.
