“I don’t want another pretty face, I don’t want just anyone to hold, I don’t want my love to go to waste, I want you and your beautiful soul” was one of my favorite songs to sing when I was a young child. As a young child, I would pester my parents with singing wherever I went, and my love for singing has never changed throughout the years, it is a talent that I am so grateful to have. Starting at a young age, just casually listening to the radio and CDs and gradually learning the lyrics to all the songs that came on I would be able to add my special touches to make it feel like my own when I sing it. I even tried to perfect my voice to sound like Gabriela Montez and Sharpay Evens because I knew that I loved to sing. I carried that singing into school as well, joining the choir, and letting choir teach me more than I thought I ever would. Singing opens up a new world for me. My passion for singing and the art behind it grows more and more every day. When I sing, I feel like I can express any emotion through any song choice and genre. Being in choir all my life has allowed me also to learn not just about pop music but also classical and Latin music. Learning classical music and Latin music has shown me how to round my vowels to pronounciate better which goes hand and hand with pop because that opens up your vocal register and allows you to sing better.
