Now I’m gonna be focusing of the franchises within the film industry.Where does the concept of "franchise fatigue" come from? Nobody seems to know who coined the term. As we know, franchises have been around for years. For some their about how we fall in love with a story or character over a period of time for example harry potter or star wars, you know we all grew up with these movies. So we tend to feel more connected to this franchises, you know it’s a part of our childhood. But For others these huge million dollar franchises have this lack of originality and quality content that it tries to provide for it’s audience. -next slide what is franchise fatigue? Franchises are dominating the film industry as they control the most of the spots in top of the highest grossing movies of all time. Just this year, of the top 5 grossing films, 3 of those were massive franchise hits from, Jurassic world, Avengers to Furious 7. Don’t get me wrong these films are …show more content…
It takes a special team of creative individuals to come together to produce a story that can touch the lives of millions. for the future of the industry I believe we need to step back and really re-evaluate what is it to make films. If we don’t I think we are going to lose a key element that brings us together in this community we call film or animation. A lot of what’s been said in these presentations are that we feel like we are losing something in the process of making our art. What I think I've learned through the process of this project, is that we as artists need to take responsibility for the amount of influence we have on people's lives. To be in this line of work means we have this incredible tool to be able to inspire people and going forward in our careers, wherever that may take us. think that’s something we can’t
Motion Pictures have always had a strong influence in today’s culture, but maybe none as prevalent as Star Wars. Originating with Episode 4 A New Hope, the series boomed from 1977 to 2005 with yet another addition coming in 2015. The strongest of the series was the original trilogy episodes 4, 5, and 6, all generally released in the 1980s. As one of the strongest film francaises still today, it’s impact within the 1980s was only the tip of the iceberg. Children and adults alike still anticipate the new edition of this seemingly endless journey. If any singular film series still holds prevalence in its future decades it is Star Wars: Original Trilogy.
• The franchise was new and not yet proven in the industry or the potential market
What components make a movie successful in cinema? Filmmakers have crafted a formula to successfully deliver the hero narrative. This formula consists of the hero’s journey and archetypes. Hero films typically follow a ten-step sequence to properly set up and execute the hero’s journey. These movies range from stories of transformations, searches, or a journey back home. Archetypes are used to employ character profile as well as add variety and depth to these stories. Ridley Scott directed Alien, in which Ellen Ripley embarks on a journey where she must survive an alien who is out on a murderous rampage and return back to Earth. Alien adds originality to its storyline by choosing a female lead instead of a male, but the film still incorporates the same heroic attributes that make a story successful. In this “going home journey” film, Scott is able to incorporate the hero’s journey and the official hero archetype towards the heroine Ellen Ripley.
The television's new “golden age” is now upon us. As the internet continues to make filmmaking more accessible to public, Hollywood will continue being one of the biggest and greatest influences on today’s society and politics. It is much easier to create and share your ideas through film than ever before. Independent studios before, greatly expanding the number of debates and arguments people have access to. Never has the power to express yourself and your views through film been so great, and we are better off for it.
...r any individual off of one story that is portrayed in any type of media, I have learned to ignore it. This project not only opened my mind to how deceiving the media is but also how to work in a group. Throughout this project I learned that time management is everything and also how to create a presentation with so many opinions.
...he years, the more times I experience this film I seem to always take something away from it. From a managers standpoint you begin to realize the difference between the “I” and the “we” component of a team. You rely on each team member having a substantial amount of effort and involvement with the overall goal of the mission. For when the times comes each specialized team member must come forward and contribute their part in the overall objective, then return to their role as part of the team. Also, managers must support and remain confident in the decisions made by their team members. Sometimes major decisions must be made under a restricted time frame, and as the manager you must trust the solutions prescribed by your staff. Finally, you must take into consideration “human limitations”. No human being is perfect, and mistakes are inevitable, especially under stress.
Summary of Major Risks and Factors that Blockbuster has Faced and Will Face in the Future
To put it simply, there is nothing more I would rather do than influence how people see good and the bad in our world, and to me there is only one medium for that, film.
Create the final product. In modern times media has made film to be seen as a glamorous
“The biggest mistake we have made is to consider that films are primarily a form of entertainment. The film is the greatest medium since the invention of movable type for exchanging ideas and information, and it is no more at its best in light entertainment than literature is at its best in the light novel.” - Orson Welles
It would be an understatement to say that James Cameron’s 2009 epic science fiction film, Avatar, was a blockbuster. Not only did it end up making the most money at the box office than any movie ever made in the history of film, but it also pushed new boundaries for film technology, especially with being a 3d film, which in turn caused it tone of the most discussed films of the year. It really reflected the true essence of what a blockbuster is, based on its approach towards the special effects of the movie, the themes it presented, the narrative structure it conveyed, and the legacy it was able to leave behind. As a film that contained innovations for cinema, it ultimately left an impact that was able to transcend just mere entertainment, and showed that movies could be art forms once again.
importance to an individuals or society as a whole or can a movie be a blockbuster without any of those points.
...ve of simply watching movies to a sharp intrigue for just how exactly these films are made. That family vacation down to the cabin in Wears Valley, Tennessee was my first peak into the keyhole to the world of filmmaking, and the near future only seems to show more and more opportunities to take what I love and put that to the best of use. Filming the extravagent views and scenery in Tennessee only raised my interest in filming beautiful, expansive vistas and gorgeous backdrops. It really makes you think about your place in the world, and it brings out the emotions particularly well. There are few things today that can do that to a person, especially without being a risk to your health or dangerous. That is why the idea of making an audience feel something they don’t typically feel is an idea I plan on persuing, and I aim to do it better than anyone else before me.
Movies take us inside the skin of people quite different from ourselves and to places different from our routine surroundings. As humans, we always seek enlargement of our being and wanted to be more than ourselves. Each one of us, by nature, sees the world with a perspective and selectivity different from others. But, we want to see the world through other’s eyes; imagine with other’s imaginations; feel with other’s hearts, at a same time as with our own. Movies offer us a window onto the wider world, broadening our perspective and opening our eyes to new wonders.
Films and videos are rarely a simple record of what the camera sees. The reaction of audiences may vary according to what part of the world they are from, together with their customs and beliefs, when and where the film was made and set, and the ability of the film makers to lead the audience to a “willing suspension of disbelief” (Films in our lives, 1953) so that when the audience watch the film they are to think that what they are watching is actually happening rather than being played out by actors. Films tell stories about people – the way they live, behave, think, feel and interact. They show us in pictures, actions, words and sound what the world is like, was like, or might be like – or what the director’s particular view of the world might be. The film and video cameras provide us with a lens to look more closely at ourselves and our world (Films in our lives, 1953).
