Fowler’s Stages of Faith Development James Fowler’s (1981,1995) theory of Faith development grew out of 359 in-depth interviews conducted from 1972 to 1981 in Boston, Chicago, and Toronto (Hutchison, 2015). Notable facts concerning Fowlers research include, his study divided evenly and balanced as far as gender, the interviews were Simi structured and consisted of 30 questions. The ages of the participants range from 3 ½ to mid 80s. Unfortunately, fowlers study subjects are predominantly white and it largely Christian in Faith. Stage III Synthetic-conversational faith, adolescence and beyond. Stage VI, individuative-reflective faith, young adults and beyond. Stage V, conjunctive faith, midlife and beyond. Stage VI, Universalizing faith, midlife and beyond. An undeveloped tool which could strategically applied to the art of working with people.
