In my eyes, forensic psychology means more to me than just a degree choice. It is an opportunity to provide a service to the community, a chance to apply my education to real life situations, and it represents an important career option I have set as a goal for myself. Forensic psychology offers an assortment of career options that are involved in the criminal justice system, which has only fed my interest even more within this field. Working in the human services field, I believe that I have experiences that could benefit me within this program as well as a future career in forensic psychology. Throughout my college experience I had to learn how to balance my time between schoolwork and a full time job. This allowed me to work on my time management and helped me become more responsible. As an employee I have learned to cooperate with others and work as a team to get things done. I put my all into my job and if I have any questions I never cease to as. I am also very good at working alone as well. I know how to lead when it is asked of me and I know when I need to follow. I believe that the work ethic that I have can be applied to my education as well. As a student I’ am not afraid to ask questions or offer to stay after class for extra help. I’ am always willing to go the extra mile when it comes to my education. I will put all the time and effort into my studies in order to succeed. There would be more job opportunities available for myself once I’ve finished, I would be the first in my family to earn a master’s degree, and I would accomplish my number one goal I’ve had since my freshman year of college. Having the opportunity to be involved in the criminal justice system as a forensic psychologist would be my dream job and I know that I can achieve it by participating in this program. My work background has taught me a lot and I know that I can use what I’ve learned and apply it to the classes I take and the experiences I’ll gain. Although it was stressful, working and going to school full time has taught me a lot of methods and habits that I can use while attending graduate school. Whether I need to put a few hours in the library or ask for extra help I am more than willing to do what is needed. Lastly, if accepted into this program I would solely be excited to take the classes that are offered as well as possibly become a graduate student of Roger Williams
