I am a college football coach. The reason I chose this is because the money is very good. I want to go win a National Championship. I want to work my team to be the best. I want to coach the best players in the country. I want to have a good coaching career record. The first American football game ever played was between Princeton University and Rutgers University. This game was played on November 6, 1869. This game took place in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Rutgers won the game six to four. This game was played under rugby like rules. Yale, Rutgers, Princeton, and Columbia all met together in New York City on October 20, 1873 at the Fifth Avenue Hotel. They were brought together to agree on a set of rules for the game. It was a form of football that is now called soccer. Harvard University refused to join the meeting because of their belief in a rougher sport. It was called the Boston Game. The rules have been changed, and rules have been added on over the years. There are about one-hundred and twenty-eight college football teams. That means there are one-hundred and twenty-eight college football coaches, not including the assistant coaches and all other people in the program. You may find this field at any college university where you are hired. Many people go to school to be a college football coach or are already in the program. The duties of a good college football coach is to make your team as good as the can possibly get. Coaches usually have a one-hundred hour plus work week. This includes working on the field, in the office, or scouting. Coaches work year round scouting, practicing with the team, meeting new students, and adding them to the team. When becoming a college football coach, age is just a number. The mos... ... middle of paper ... ...problems. I don’t want them to think I’m someone who don’t care about anyone except myself. I do care about other people. I am not going to be a man without feelings. I will be nice as long as they are nice back. I want things to be taken care of. I don’t want things to be thrown around, lost, or stolen. I want things to be put up and taken care of. I want our things to look nice. I don’t want to look like we don’t take care of our things. I want people to think of us as a good school. I don’t want them to think we are a piece of junk school. I will want to stay with this career. Its great money, and sounds like a lot of fun. Besides all of the bad stuff that goes wrong around the job, it will be a great thing to do. The school I would most likely want to go to coach at is either Texas Tech, or Oregon. They are both awesome teams, and they are great schools.
Play style, rules differences, and passion for the game are on field differences between college football, and the NFL. There are also many off field differences, including money. Most general things about the game, are still the same though. Due to the differences between college football and the NFL, college football is more enjoyable to watch as a fan.
PEOPLE come first, are treated with dignity and respect, and are encouraged to achieve their full potential;
Pro football originally started in 1892 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after previous Yale star William "Pudge" Heffelfinger was funded a notable sum of $500 to play in a single game for the Allegheny Athletic Association on November 12(“NFL Founded”1). For the next 30 years, pro football faced its highs and lows as the game was played primarily in small towns throughout western Pennsylvania and the Midwest of America(1).

Working at a school would not have been a top choice but as an athletic director it seems fun and enjoyable. An athletic director oversees all school sports and makes sure that everyone follows the rules and does not disobey the coaches (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). They also have to attend all games and matches that are scheduled (Hinginbotham, Heather). As well as attending all the games they have to hire the officials that are needed for the games (Higinbotham, Heather). Athletic directors also might have to fire coaches and other athletic department employees if needed (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). They also have to set or approve job descriptions for each position (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). Every athletic director job is different depending on the size of school; their daily routine might be different from others. In smaller schools the athletic director might have to teach classes as well as do their own job. But as for larger school they will only be an athletic director. In some jobs they are physical education teachers as well as an athletic director (Baccadutre).
The effectiveness of the coaching method depends completely on the coach, his personality, and the needs of the student-athletes. Each program and institution is unique and has different institutional goals and objectives that attract different student-athletes compared to other colleges or universities (Koivula, Hassmen, Fallby, 2002).
Football was invented in 1879 by Walter Camp; he attended Yale from 1876 to 1882 and was head advisory football coach from 1888 to 1912. Camp helped evolve the rules of the game away from rugby and soccer into the rules of American Football as they are known today. An influence to Walter Camp’s invention was William Ellis who was the first person noted for picking up the ball during a soccer game and running with it. From that point, Camp began to assess the rules of football. Football is an fairly understandable sport; one can begin learning the aspects of catching and walking with a football at around the age of two. About 25 years ago, the National football Association did not have the reputation it has today, with the continuous rise of sports television packages, the release of video games, and the invention of the internet perpetuating the regional growth across the United States, and inevitably, the world. The broadcasts began in 1939 with the first pro football game airing on television as network executives began to realize the advertisement could potentially generate substantial profits. Networks began broadcasting football once a week and it quickly became a product turning into their top income stream. By this time, football was given a huge amount of global exposure, eventually increasing with international broadcasts and internet media. ...
The merging of the National Football League and the American Football League created The Super Bowl, which has changed the American culture in various ways. Football has been in the making for over 150 years. The foundation of football comes from rugby, a British sport that also incorporates war tactics. In the beginning, the game was unorganized because there were few rules and it was new to the players. But by the end of the Civil War, football had taken on a whole new look; it started to become the modern version that we are familiar with today (Kennedy 7-9).
Played back on November 6, 1869, the first American Football game did not show the characteristics that it does today; the game resembled rugby more than it did football. Yet, over the years football has been molded into the way people see it now.
The process of becoming a great Coach requires a mix of intelligence, time, hard work, dedication, and knowledge of the sport that someone is coaching. Coaches have the opportunity to impact the players life in a huge way. Most players want to look up to their coach; because that is how influential that they can be in life. The goals every year of a coach is to win a conference championship and win a major championship. The goals vary every year for certain teams and coaches. A reason to become a coach could be the influence that coaches had on one’s childhood growing up, as coaches are usually looked at as great role models. (Foster)
College football became a major attraction in the 1960’s. Crowds began to fill the stadiums because of the excitement of the game. An example would be when Norte Dame’s
As I was preparing to leave high school and look for a career, I had to make an immense decision. I had to decide what field I wanted to pursue, and how to go about it. I knew I wanted to teach because it offered everything I wanted in a profession including, good benefits, decent pay, the chance to work with children, and the chance to eventually coach High School Football. No other career I found can offer all of these advantages.
Games similar to soccer were played in China as early as 400 BC. In about 200 AD the Romans played a game in which two teams tried to score by advancing a ball across a line on the field. The Romans passed the ball to one another but they never kicked it. London children in about 1100 played a form of soccer in the streets. During the 1800’s the people of England played a game similar to soccer. Many rules changed and each person interpreted the rules differently. In 1848 a group of school representatives met at Trinity College in Cambridge and drew up the first of soccer rules. In 1863 English soccer clubs founded the Football Association. By the late 1800’s soccer began to spread to the rest of the world. The Canadian Soccer Association was established in 1912 while the United States Soccer Federation was set up in 1913.
Football’s ancestors are considered to be rugby and soccer, with rugby being the more dominant aspect of the game. The game of football was born on November 6, 1869, when teams from Rutgers and Princeton Universities met for the first intercollegiate football game. At that time the game still resembled rugby and was more of an organized brawl than a sport. Then in 1873, representatives from Columbia, Rutgers, Princeton, and Yale Universities met in New York City to create the first collegiate league for the sport. They eventually established the Intercollegiate Football Association (IFA). Over the next decade some colleges decided to ban the brutal sport because of all the injuries received by its players. “Nearly 180 players had suffered serious injuries, and eighteen deaths had been reported from the brutal mass plays that had become common practice” (A Brief History of the Game). With these staggering numbers of injuries and deaths the game was falling to its own demise. So in 1905, President Roosevelt asked Harvard, Princeton, and Yale to save the sport. After several meetings the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or NCAA, was established as the governing group for football in college. They redesigned the game and added many new rules, such as forward passing, to reduce the number of injuries from the mass plays that teams used to use.
My personal philosophy is: I am a coach because of my love for the game and my wanting to teach this passion to others. I believe that playing a sport will not only prepare a child to win, but also for life and the challenges that come with it. I will strive to help every athlete to compete to the best of their ability, while ensuring that are learning skills that will later on better them in their everyday lives.
