Introduction An Organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should promote ethical and social standards throughout its overall mission. There will be a summary of the Folole Muliaga case. There will be an assessment of the consequences of the victim, Folole Muliaga and the actions of Mercury Energy, the energy company that disconnected Folole’s electricity. There were outstanding balances and the additional current month’s charges. Folole's husband contacted the energy company during her hospital visit to privacy laws. Mercury Energy would only speak with Folole since she was the account owner. The contractor arrived an hour before noon, and some of the family members made him aware of the medical circumstances. However, the contractor said that although he saw a medical tube to Falole’s nose, it was not connected to any equipment and that he was not made aware of any need for the oxygen supply. The Muliagas also did not have a telephone that worked in the house, and there was no way to call emergency assistance. Muliaga asked her sons not to call an ambulance. Folole died approximately a couple of hours after the electricity was turned off. A nephew of Falole alerted the media and tried to get the electricity reconnected. There were others requesting the same of Mercury Energy. It was documented that a supervisor who worked at the Mercury Energy call-center showed a grave lack of sympathy towards the request stating that the death was irrelevant. Folole’s family alleged that the electricity company was negligent against Folole and her family. (Eweje & Wu, 2010) Stated the company was brought into questions by the media and others on the grounds of the corporate social responsibilities (Eweje & Wu, 2010). The executives of the company were asked to clarify their position with regards to the moral duties of the company in such circumstances. The Muliagas family had problems with how the police conducted the death investigation. They felt that the police were insensitive and showed a lack of Samoan cultural awareness. The police denied the allegations and stated that Folole’s sons cooperated fully with their investigation. The police announced that there was no evidence to justify any charge against the Mercury Energy, the contractor who disconnected the utilities or staff member spoken to in customer service. The Coroner ruled Folole Muliaga died of natural causes relating to being morbidly obese. However, there was stress having her power disconnected and not being able to use her oxygen machine contributed to her death. The Coroner criticized Mercury Energy their part in her death. The contractor was placed on stress leave and received counseling. The Muliaga family did not place any disciplinary or criminal actions taken against the
