Five Essential Truths The poet Richard Rohr wrote a five line poem about what he called “five essential truths”. The poem’s ideas are what he considers true. It is about life and ideas about the way we should live it. Actually, I agree with him and I will explain the reasons. “Life is hard”. At the very beginning of our lives, we were inside our mothers, but after a short period of time, we get out of them, and I consider that is a difficult moment in anyone’s life. Life outside of the womb is quite different. Indeed, there is a new world, which there is not just one human being. It is you and many others. This fourth essential truth could have two possible meanings, I reflect. I might regard, first that we are not in control of ourselves all the time and secondly, that nobody or nothing controls us either. Moreover, I agree with him if this line is related to what I just wrote. In life, there are some situations that could make us examine that we lose what we call “control” under those sudden situations. A tiny complication could make us react strange even without analyzing it. Besides, if he is referring to nobody controls us, it is also true because a person could presume “I control the world”, or “a country” but the thoughts, feelings or ideas are not under nobody’s control just under God’s control. Additionally, “You are going to die” is the last truth. People should know we all will die once. It is not fundamental to go deep into this truth, since that is something we all have for sure. A truth that is awesome is the fact that we do not realize we are not alive forever and it causes problems because people cultivate not so good feelings and tend to hurt others. We will pass away once, so we always should remember it. If we accomplish that, we will enjoy more each day as if it would be the last one in our life. Thus, we will do well to others. Both awe-inspiring and indescribable is life, the defined “state of being” that historians and scholars alike have been trying to put into words ever since written language was first created. And in the words of one such intellectual, Joshua J. Marine, “Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”. Essentially, he is comparing life to a bowl of soup. Without challenges or hardship into which we can put forth effort and show our potential, it becomes a dull and flavorless broth. But for characters in novels like Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, and Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, the difficulties and trials that we all must face can transfigure the mundane liquid mixture of existence into a vibrant and fulfilling gumbo. The protagonists of these works are two strong-willed and highly admirable women, who prevail in the face of overwhelming odds stacked in everyone’s favor but theirs. In their trying periods of isolation brought about by cold and unwelcoming peers, particularly men, they give their lives meaning by simply pushing forward, and living to tell the tale.
	Living is about making choices. The choices people make shape their lives for better or worse. Even the decision not to choose has its effects, often not wanted. But the individual who chooses to make positive choices and to act accordingly is more likely to see his or her life reflect his or her beliefs and desires. Usually the individual who chooses to take action is also willing to face the risks and obstacles that such choices involve.
We each ought to regard this one life which is very importance to us, since we each have just one life.

The speaker introduces the idea of the natural cycle of life, where something becomes born and eventually dies. This reflects back to the Native culture where the cycle of life was much celebrated. The idea of "death and birth" symbolizes the speaker 's love that was once born to die in the end. It also symbolizes the pleasure and pain that comes with falling in love. She was born again with the new knowledge and pleasure the love had to offer. However, it is an undeniable fact that the same love that gave her so much joy at one point, gave her just as much pain. A part of her past- self had to die in order for the speaker to be reborn.

Neither Nagel’s explanation of the contradiction between meaning within a life and meaning of life as a whole, Frankfurt’s idea that love functions to make lives meaningful, nor my argument that the search for the meaning of life is the meaning itself are universally accepted views. Open-ended problems such as this one about the meaning of life are rooted in the subject of philosophy, since there is often no right answer. Philosophy allows people to come up with a variety of theories and opinions that attempts to solve certain philosophical issues. Therefore, the debate on what the meaning of life really is will continue in the future as others take their turns in searching for the meaning of life.
