There are many reasons why I would like to be in National Honor Society. The major reason is the benefits for my future academics and career. I feel as if I can get into National Honor Society it would push many younger students to strive to their potential to try to get in. Last year I thought that I would never get into National Honor Society, so I didn’t even try and I regret that, as many students and teachers were asking me why I did not get into National Honor Society. So this year I promised myself that I would try. When I was in my younger grades I did not push myself to my full potential, it was when I was going into ninth grade that I recognized that I needed to change. At that time, I realized how important of a trait scholarship was. I began to push myself with the thought of my future in mind, and what I need to do in order to get where I want too. Saying that every day at practice I would drive to finish the workout in order to get much better from where I started. When I began, I ran my mile in 11 minutes and 54 seconds, last year my fastest mile was 5 minutes 58 seconds. I like telling people that I weigh 190 pounds and can run a mile in six minutes. I would like to begin with saying that I am honored to be invited into the National Honors Society. I am continually setting high standards for myself and to join a group of like minded people would be a very satisfying reward. I consider this invitation for application an incredible opportunity for forward advancement in my scholarly journey. So, to dive right into why I would like to join this honored society, I will briefly expound on my character and traits for you.
Being proud of something can have many different meanings to people, but to me, it means to be honored and to be glad that something happened. I am proud about many things in my life but one thing I am extremely proud of is my induction into the NJHS. NJHS stands for National Junior Honor Society.
I feel that the importance of service is to help a person in need because you could change someone's life, not because you feel that you need to. People who love what they are doing are the people who effect everything around them.Service has impacted my life because it makes me a better person. My family feels the impact, the community feels the impact, even servicing for a few hours a week affects the people around you. It makes the community a better place to live.
I am honored to be among the students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I must admit that this is a group that I have been anticipating joining since the beginning of my high school career. The National Honors Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. These are all characteristics a member of the National Honor Society should exhibit. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the chance of becoming a NHS member. Throughout my two years in high school, I have been trying to maintain a certain grade point average. I’ve passed two of my state tests already and I have yet to take my English II and U.S. History state test. I passed my Algebra I test in 8th grade with Proficient and my Biology I test my freshman year with Proficient. My grades fell off the first 9 weeks of this school year because I had a hard time understanding English II and I ended up scoring Basic on my 1st 9 weeks benchmark test. Now I have made a promise to myself that I will be advanced in everything from now on. I’ve been studying more and working in my SATP practice booklets and now my grades are improving. When I was in 2nd grade I was accepted into the Gifted/Excel class at Bentonia Gibbs up until my 7th grade year at Yazoo County Junior High. Ever since junior high, I have been in the advanced classes, and I hope that will help me with my plan to graduate as one of the top of my class.
To be in the National Junior Honor Society, one must have good citizenship and character. I seek to be a part of this society because it is a great honor and shows not only to others, but also to myself, how hard I have worked throughout my years at Northvale Public School. I take part in school activities and have helped my teachers, so that my classmates and myself can have a better learning experience. During Brain Busters meets, there are times that I am in charge of the group I am in and although it is a lot of responsibility, I know that my team depends on me to help them.

National Junior Honor Society as a nation premier organization started to recognize outstanding middle-level students. NJHS is a way to honor students who have demonstrated an extraordinary amount of excellence in the areas of the five pillars which are, scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. This organization that was started in 1929 is a great opportunity for me to show my family and teachers how hard I work to get this far.
