Was Odysseus a hero? The Odyssey consisted of a couple of main characters, Telemachus, Odysseus's son Penelope, Odysseus’s wife, Athena, daughter of the God Zeus. She also helped Odysseus a lot throughout the book, and last but not least, Odysseus. To a couple of readers Odysseus was a hero because he put himself in life-threatening situations to try and save everyone else, and that is a hero. Odysseus outsmarted a lot of monsters, and people in his book. Intelligence is key, in most situations. In The Odyssey, Odysseus is a hero because he saved his men plenty of times from getting killed. When he went to Circe’s his men were lured in, drugged with her potions and herbs, and then turned into pigs. He went after them knowing he may or may not come back alive. Granted yes, Hermes did come down and give him a special herb to protect Odysseus from Circe’s drugged up potions. That was after he decided he needed to go and get his men back. When he had visited the House of Hades, he went to one of the most scary place in his time to ask a prophet how he could get home with all of his men alive. …show more content…
