“Trans- media” is a term appear recently. Its first present in 1991 by Dr. Marsha Kinder. It was wildly spread by Dr. Henry Jenkins while his book Convergence Culture Being published. From his blog, his definition of ‘trans- media story telling’ means a story build up by different piece of bits create by different media. They all contribute to the same story but they are all unique and not overlap. He did not have a tough position but ‘Transmedia refers to a set of choices made about the best approach to tell a particular story to a particular audience in a particular context depending on the particular resources available to particular producers.’ As this is a very new term, people are still discussing about it.

In his point of view, transmedia is a resource which can attract people in the beginning and continues to explore. Sesame Street is used as an example in Malcolm Gladwell (2000) books, which children are being interested in the characters and they keep going back and explore more. I try to do the same in my project. My documentary is fast flowing and just provide simple information. They can learn and investigate more about Christian believes deeply through my blog on tumbler once they are interested in my video. They can engage with me by writing comment and re- blogging. (Pamela, R) ‘It is about inviting and engaging in shared and valued experience and that creates a genuine human bond.’ I used writing and cartoons at the beginning to bring audience back to the past and introduce Chinese Christianity history to them. I choose this method as I was attracted by a video I saw few year ago on YouTube. As this technique give me such a deep impression, I am sure it can impress someone else at my age group. In my blog, I post the material and method I used for the production of this footage, my audience can follow my instruction and produce their own little story just for fun. I give them hence which they can ask to tips and share their work with me. In my video, I also put the footage of interviewing some Chinese Christians around me. From the interview, we can see they are all come from different part of China, they have their own story and they have varies of reasons why they believes in God. Through these video, I hope to bring out the message ‘we don’t have to be perfect to become a Christian’, we are all on our way, searching and learning. Although fictional, the book Safely Home written by Randy Alcorn is a remarkably dependable story based on real characters. The way of life in China and in America is portrayed in an extraordinarily accurate way. This book consists of a powerful story which focuses mainly on the persecution of Christians in China. Although not every follower of Christ lives in China and not every Christian is persecuted the way in which Li Quan, his family, and other fellow believers were persecuted, the morals and examples can be applied to any Christian’s life. Since the story takes place in today’s time period, the scenario is quite significant in any believer’s life. In the book, Matteo Ricci, a pious Christian, tried to impress the Chinese by using his memory skills. He also hoped that they can be interested in his culture and thus interested in God (p. 140). Under that time fierce political and financial situation and religious fermentation, it was really tough for Ricci and other preachers to preach in China. In order to reach goal which make the people in China believe in god, they went through a lot of difficulties. But also because of these difficulties, they shattered Ricci’s original dream which was easy to preaching in a different country into pieces. Ricci and others thus tried to find another accessible and more realistic way to achieve their goals.
As an Arab(Muslim) living in the US, I perfectly recognize what it is to be a member of a minority group. However, I am quite intrigued by the idea of studying the Chinese Christian subculture within the United States. This project will involve studying existing literature on the given subculture – which is Chinese Christian community within the US. In most cases, subcultures are closed knit and members like associating with members of their communities; understandably because of the need to belong and find closeness with one another. Nonetheless, Christianity amongst Chinese immigrants in the United States brings forth the idea of present-day assimilation, religious conversion, and so forth. In order to ensure this project is completed successfully, there will be different methods of collecting information other than studying existing literature – by experts in the field. Most notably, there will be interviews with members of the subculture being studied to get first-hand information on the experiences of the group in the US.

Many people believe that today’s Christians are too sheltered and oblivious to the real world around them. When asked, many outsiders compared today’s Christians to “The Titanic - a ship about to sink, but unaware of its fate” or “a hobby that diverts people’s attention” (Kinnaman 120). It is important Christians to not just stay secluded in one group (church group), but to be talking to others (outsiders) so we are aware of the problems and thing that are going on in the world around us. As Christians we are called to be disciples of Jesus by reaching out to those in need, praying for those around us, and calling people to become the church. In “Unchristian” David Kinnaman outlines three main things we as Christians should include in our lives: accepting responsibility, not being fearful, helping the desperate, being prepared, and keeping a balance.
Newspaper, radio, film, television. These are only a few of the various forms media can take. From the moment we open our eyes to the instant we shut them, we are surrounded by media and absorb the information it hurls at us in an osmosis-like manner. The news ranges from the latest terror attack and political scandals to supposed UFO sightings and scandals involving sandals. We as an audience tend to focus more on the message the media relays rather than on the medium in which it is presented to us.

Christianity has its challenges. It places demands on us that set us apart from the rest of our world. The bible calls us a peculiar people, who navigate the challenge of living IN the world, without being OF the world. When we say ‘no’ to temptations that are enjoyed by the masses, we are labeled as self-righteous snobs, religious weirdoes, or worse. But we persevere, and we press toward that invisible line the Apostle Paul drew in the sands of time…for the high calling in Christ Jesus.

Investigation of the Chinese Popular Religion includes its key features, practices, and influences, along with tis role in contemporary China, and how Christians can enhance their interactions.
Since the coinage of the term in an MIT Technology Review (2003) article, Henry Jenkins’ theory of transmedia has been significantly contested and edited by multiple media theorists and scholars. In short, transmedia storytelling is the technique of telling a narrative across multiple platforms. The goal of a transmedia project is to heighten the degree in which audiences participate and interact with the events, characters, and storyworld of a franchise. A transmedia project can include, but is not limited to, the use of movies, books, games, social-media, and graphic novels. These elements work together to make the story more enjoyable and contribute to richer fan-engagement. Jenkins’ best summarizes a definition himself in his 2006 book Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide; “A transmedia story unfolds across multiple media platforms with each new text making a distinctive and valuable contribution to the whole” (pp. 95-96).
