The Parliament has questioned the rise of transgender discrimination and plans to decrease the amount of discrimination against transgenders. Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has decided to take actions into his hands and quotes “Today is about ensuring that all people — regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity — feel safe and secure and empowered to freely express themselves”. The government has proposed to change the federal criminal code, to include the hate against transgenders as a sentence given to the judge, to penalize the offender. Among the provinces in Canada, only five of the thirteen include gender expression and identity under their human rights laws. “The principle of solidarity, also articulated in terms of "friendship" or "social charity," is a direct demand of human and Christian brotherhood.”(45) We are brothers and sisters and we must appreciate and be united in our diversity. Respecting our cultures, sexual orientations, and our diverse customs, bring us closer to God and happiness. Our love for God and others extends over materialistic good and luxuries, while it aims towards spreading the spiritual word of God . “ The virtue of solidarity goes beyond material goods. In spreading the spiritual goods of the faith, the Church has promoted and often opened new paths for, the development of temporal goods as well”(47) mentioned in the Catechism. The Catholic Church supports issues of banning discrimination and encourages the unity of people. The Catechism cites “God created everything for man, but man, in turn, was created to serve and love God and to offer all creation back to him”(222)”. God has called upon his people to love and show him gratitude, by being humble and caring. God request us to be good people of religion and faith and deepen their relationship with him. While, the transgender community may be different and unusual for most people to understand, they are people of God and deserve love, respect and guidance.
