Texas Revolution Causes The Texas Revolution, also know was the Texas Day of Independence, was a day of Glory for the Texans and a Day of despair for the Mexicans. The conflict was between Mexico and settlers in Texas. There are some factors that causes the war, but the biggest factor is the Law of April 6, 1830. The Law of April 6, 1830 stopped immigration to Texas, which was the main cause Texas revolution because settlers wanted their family to come to Texas and now they could not come. Before the Law of April 6th, Mexico tried other methods to keep control of Texas such as increasing trade, sending Mexicans/Europeans to Texas, collecting Taxes, sending troops to Texas, and trying to make Texas more “Mexican”. The Mexicans did this to keep control of Texas because of every Mexican there was, there were 10 Texan settlers. The Mexicans were scared because the Texans outnumbered those 10-1, so if there was a war at Texas, the Texans would probably win (Declaration of Causes 45). Other causes of the Texas Revolution were: The treaty of Velasco being broken by Santa Anna, and the treaty of 1824 being abolished by Santa Anna (Declaration of Causes 45). …show more content…

The battle was fought near Gonzales, Texas on October 2, 1835. Mexico gave the Texas settlers a cannon so help them fight off Indians attacking them. The Mexicans later wanted the cannon back since several states revolted against Mexico, and the Mexicans felt that it was not wise giving the Texas settlers a weapon. They asked them for the cannon back, but the Texans refused to give Mexico the cannon back. Instead of giving them the cannon, they made a banner with a picture of a cannon on it saying “come and take it”. The Mexicans send soldiers to retrieve the cannon and the Battle of Gonzalez took place. The Mexicans ended up retreating and not getting the cannon, this was the start of the Texas Revolution, and there was no turning
