Imperialism Beginning in the 1900’s, United States was altered by global imperialism. Imperialism is a policy that extends a country's power by using military force, and this technique is used around the globe affecting Africa and the Europeans.Throughout history, imperialism and colonization has constantly occurred because every country wants to have the most power and influence. This so called Imperialism spiced the economy because of the industrialization and trade, it created a desire for natural resources, and sparked superiority and racism. Majority of the countries wanted to industrialize and colonize other territories to become stronger. Imperialism led to a boost in global economy because countries were striving for wealth and stability.The first glimpse of this was the Spanish-American War when they gained colonies on both sides of the Pacific. The United States's power and wealth could easily manipulate smaller countries, for example Cuba.In addition, the United States also gained Asian territory when they took over the Philippines, so they had quicker access to vast goods and materials for Industrialization. Social Darwinism was for “survival of the fittest”, in other words the white race that is more evolved and superior over all the others. Therefore the lower working classes such as African Americans would not succeed because they couldn’t sustain themselves, making them weaker. Social Darwinism was a transparent reason to justify murder and oppression by societies and the world. This helped countries colonize the weak and make their own country stronger. .     The United States of America was founded on the basis that we should be a free and independent country from Great Britain and its empire. Rather than simply being a part of its empire, America wanted to become its own country to fend for itself. Great Britain, after the American Revolution, realized that maybe it was the best idea to let America set off and accomplish their own endeavors.
