Introduction
Come here rude boy, boy, can you get it up? Come here rude boy, boy, is you big enough? These are the lyrics that we can find ourselves mindlessly singing to on our way to work. Pop star Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the co-producer of this song, made history at this year’s American Music Awards when she was awarded the first-ever Icon Award, which according to the show’s producer, Larry Klein, was created to honor an artist whose body of work made a profound influence on popular music at a global level. Needless to say, Rihanna’s iconic fashion taste and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and best-selling artists of all time. Rihanna however, is not the only woman making history in the music industry; Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, and Katy Perry, just to name a few, are also very empowering women in the industry. Female pop-culture artists, alongside many male rappers in the industry, contribute tremendously in influencing American culture. Their immense contributions to the American culture are engraved in their catchy, explicit music lyri...
This study demonstrated that pop music influences happiness mood. As hypothesized participants in the pop music category were influence by the music and seem happier. The analysis revealed that participants in the rock and classical music categories didn’t have an effect in their mood. The results for rock and classical music did not supported the hypothesis, which rock music causes a person to have an aggressive mood, and classical music will lead to a calmer mood. There wasn’t no effect between rock music and aggressive mood. Classical music didn’t have a relationship between classic music and calm mood. The results of this study wouldn’t be able to support (Jordana Mena, 2007). This consists of classical music being composed with different emotions based on the key and time signature it is on. If the classical piece is written in a higher key then they saw different mood responses than the classical pieces written in a low key (Jordan Mena, 2007). This study has provided that music is more than just a piece, of a lyric, beat, or instrument it has been proven that music can help people ...
For many, music is a cultural history that brings families together, allowing them to share a common interest. The birth of hip hop ignited a whole new world of music, which lead to vast amount of controversy in the music industry. Hip hop has always been recognized as the platform for the black American culture. Hip hop become a moment that changed the entire music industry, and as the culture progressed it become more mainstream. In today’s music society, it is evident that the white race has become greatly involved with hip hop and the lifestyle that entails this culture. Notorious artists such as the Beastie Boys and Vanilla Ice enabled artists such as Eminem, Miley Cyrus and Iggy Azalea to follow their dreams in the hip hop world. If one acknowledges all the aspect of the hip hop culture such as the type of dance or the graffiti art, does the color of his or her skin really matter? It is clear that these artists have tested this theory, and have results that are shocking. White artists are becoming more accepted and appreciated for their music and are being mentors for the hip hop community. As a result of the outbreak of hip hop out of the Bronx, all races were able to enjoy and love the culture of hip
One tradition that has made every country different is its culture. A culture represents and creates the country’s history and traditions. From the hard working environment in China to the laid-back lifestyle in America, these are some examples of unique cultures. Even with different cultures, travelers can experience the hardships that occur when traveling. One article “ Adventure of a lifetime” demonstrated these difficulties when a family moved from America to Peru and their struggles during their transition. During their stay, Lawrence and her children experienced new ideas that were different from America. Some complex situation that arises while making a step in their new culture is the adjustment to the new environment and the language
1) I agree that pop culture is always changing and that the young generation are the ones who are mainly in control of it. The reason I believe this is because there are new videos and memes that become popular that younger people are always coming up with. Something that I had a question about was the concept that pop culture was a part of capitalism because that didn’t make much sense to me seeing as though pop culture is just what’s popular at the time and not controlled by higher status people.
American popular culture is quite serious because we find the “voices” that write, play, film, photograph, dance and explain our American history. George Lipitz notes that historians can learn a lot about the process of identity and memory in the past and present by deciphering the messages contained in popular culture forms such as films, television and music. As stated by George Lipsitz, people can either work for the economy and state, and against the population who take in the messages or they can work in a positive way as memories of the past and hopes for the future.
'Til the vocal cords don't work in her throat no more? Shut up slut, you're causin' too much chaos.” (Eminem, Kill You) However, these pejorative lyrics are not unique to male rappers. Nicki Minaj could be considered just as obscene, if not more, than any of the top male rappers.

A growing economy, new technology, and a changing way of life. Something different was happening to the society, like nothing we've ever seen before. All of which was documented by artists that were creating a new style of art, pop art. The rise of pop art marked the start of a new era for the United States. It was the visual representation of the exchange between consumerism and culture.
There are many issues with mass communication, some that we have complete control over and other issues that we don’t have any control over. Either way they are issues that we see everyday and its important to be informed on the issues as well as know some ways to ignore or prevent these issues from popping up in our everyday life. We can’t prevent all the issues with mass communication but we can certainly spread the word about them in hopes to end them all together. Two major issues that I know have been popular all over the world are television violence affecting children’s behavior and cyberbullying through social media websites. These two issues are very similar and in some ways can affect one another. Children can pick up violence on television and use that violence against peers on social media websites. This cycle has gotten increasingly worse over the years and its important to be informed so that this violence through mass communication can end all together.
Popular music is any music since industrialization in the mid-1800’s and is preferred by the middle class. It covers many genres such as rock, country, R&B, hip-hop, and rap.
The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution or simply the Cultural Revolution was launched by Mao Zedong in May 1966 and lasted until his death in September 1976. The first two years of the Revolution, which was the most violent phase of the struggle, was led by militia units comprised of students called the Red Guards. Their goal was to destroy anything in relation to the “four olds”: Old ideas, old culture, old customs, and old habits. They also engaged in the purpose of the Cultural Revolution according to the “Sixteen Points” by beating, humiliating, and even killing the “capitalist-roaders”. By mid-1968, Mao realized the young Red Guards were overly annihilative, so he abolished them. Although according to the “Sixteen Points”, the purpose of the Cultural Revolution was to eliminate those who are “capitalist-roaders” and to transform China into an equal, socialist society, Mao’s true, unrevealed goal of the CR was to eliminate his biggest enemy, who was the Chairman of China and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, Liu Shaoqi, in order to further consolidate his own power in the People’s Republic of China.
Pop art is an art movement that questions the traditions of fine art and incorporates images from popular culture. Neo-Dada is an art trend that shares similarities in the method and/or intent to Dada art pieces. Both these movements emerged around the same time periods in history, the 1950s and 1960s, and artists from both generally got their inspiration from the Dada movement, which developed in the early 20th century. The movement altered how people viewed art, and it presented a variety of new methods and styles. Dada artists, also known as Dadaists, believed in showing their anti-war beliefs through their artwork. The Dada movement produced a different style of art, and pieces created controversy because they were outside the realm of what society considered art and what was expected and acceptable. This set in motion a chance for artists to be able to create the kind of artwork that inspires them, even though it was considered unorthodox. Even though they were controversial, many pieces that were created during Dada heavily influenced other styles of art to come after, such as Neo-Dada and Pop art. The influence of Dada can be seen in Robert Rauschenberg’s work, who was a Neo-Dadaist, and it can also be seen through Andy Warhol’s work, a Pop artist. Even though Dada affected both artists, they created very different pieces. This paper will analyze Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans and Rauschenberg’s White Painting (Three Panel) and discuss how they were impacted differently by the Dada movement, and why they are each considered to be different styles of artwork. The time in history of each artist was the same, and the same movement influenced them both, but the outcome of the art that they each created was incredibly different....
Popular culture can be defined as the general accepted culture in society. Anyone can learn about what is the generally accepted culture in America because it’s usually advertised in music, books, fashion, literature, schools and the mass media to name a few. In the book images of color, images of crime, chapter 1 shows how Indians have been negatively affected by popular culture throughout the years. However, I would say that many races have been affected by popular culture to the point in which the identity and the heritage of different culture is rapidly disappearing.
Music has been many different things to people, an escape, a revolution, an experience, a feeling, a message, a memory, a single moment, peace, class, etc. Music has played a large role in the lives of many. The story of music and it’s evolution is beautiful, from ancient melodies being plucked on a harp, to the british invasion and the popular revolution. Music has changed, and it has effected so much. In the recent decades popular music has manipulated humanity into acting inappropriately.
In the contemporary society, popular culture represents the emerging lifestyles, fashions, values, as well as customs that the mainstream population follows without hesitation and with loyalty. It embraces a blend of philosophies, opinions, beliefs, viewpoints, and imageries, besides various forms of events that specific groups of individuals adopt in the society. Popular culture plays a significant role in shaping the way people think or perceive things by offering them a unique interpretation of something that they may eventually like. In this digital age, some of the popular culture known today takes account of television programs watched by many people, the numbers of individuals who currently use the internet constantly as the best means
