From past to present,many people have tried to define culture with many definition as both and scope. But,culture is so comprehensive and changeable concept that it has not been squeezed in a definition.Duverger defines culture as whole of organized behaviors,thoughts and feelings that comprising the expected behavior of human society. (Duverger 17) On the other hand,Erden and Akman say that a group’s common attitudes,behaviors and values as a whole creates culture. (Erden and Akman 127)

Through the history,living together in societies which they have had different cultural and racial structures have been as a major problem need to be overcome in all societies.In this sense,while some states applied an opposite politic against other people who keep out their own ethnic and cultural structures, other states have adopted idea of support together differences. At this point,Western states was introduced a new term: ‘multiculturalism’

Multiculturalism which first time emerged in Europe and its brief description is melt ethnic,cultural and linguistic differences have became a serious problem in some countries and have been discussed in a serious way. İnspite of their different qualities,in the world,multiculturalism takes its source from three different formations.These source are national minorities,immigrants and finally different religious groups.Is multiculturalism a cultural wealth or menace ? Especially in todays this question began to be asked for nation- states.Some people think that multiculturalism is a wealth for states if they can manage it in a right way.Others think that multiculturalism is menace and seperatist element in especially for nation-states.A...

As a result of this essay, we can say that multiculturalism is a serious problem for European nation-states in todays.Western states as Germany and Frannce failed to control the idea of multiculturalism.Multiculturalism was wealth or necessity for early years of Ottoman Empire and Roman Empire but it is clear that contemporary nation-states could not implement this idea completely as being in Turkey.Concessions given to minorities have increased and Turkey has faced a serious problem in todays.Unfortunately,meaning of multiculturalism has been misunderstood from both sides.Nation states should think deeply about the crisis of multiculturalism and should take radical decisions if they want to continue their existance.It should be noted that because of wrong management of multiculturalism, Ottoman Empire was blown up by its own bomb.
