Does modern pop music care more about image or musical content? Music is a stress reliever. It’s what people go to to get a message, heal wounds, and get motivation. In order to make it big you had to have severe talent. You would have to master an instrument, be able to sing, and able to write songs that are not only catchy, but speak to the audience. Most modern day music has nothing to do with the powerful voice you have. All that matters is that you’re able to work an auto-tune. Auto-tune is used in almost every single modern day song that comes out. Modern Pop musicians care about their popularity and image more than they care about their lyrics. It negatively affects the children of a young age. Songs that have inappropriate themes encourage children to follow the theme so that they will look ‘cool’. Different artists are writing songs about getting drunk and doing drugs like it’s a good thing. That can influence the child negatively because they look up to that particular artist and wants to be just like them. While Indie Alternative lyrics are more meaningful. Birdy’s song Words as Weapons is about how she has been pushed past her breaking point and how her boyfriend was using his words to hurt her. In her song she talks about how she shuts him off. Indie Alternative musicians like Lana Del Rey, Marina and the Diamond, Birdy, and even Twenty One Pilots all write about their lives and personal issues. In the end Modern Pop music is more different than Indie Alternative music. While Modern music cares more about image and popularity Indie Alternative cares more about helping their fans.
