Mel Gibson
Dr. Seuss once said “Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try.” This perfectly sums up Mel Gibson’s “thinks.” He is an amazing actor, producer, and director of movies. Mel Gibson’s manic depression and alcoholism has affected him professionally and creatively by keeping him from working, causing fans to turn away, and creating family conflict.
Even though Mel Gibson has manic depression, he is still creative. Throughout the early stages of a manic episode, people can be happy, productive, and creative. These people have less need for sleep and do not feel tired. They may feel like making a lot of plans because the world seems full of opportunity. The person may feel high, meet many new friends, spend all of their money, and even feel invincible (Colliingwood).
Manic Depression is also referred to as Bipolar Disorder and Severe Mood Swings. It is the severe alternate from unexplainable depressed feelings, thoughts, and actions to elevated personal feeling of euphoria. This disorder often causes dysfunction with family members, personal relationships, work, and legal system (Mallozzi). This causes sever fluctuation in mood or poles, from depression to mania. Half of all the cases of this disorder start when patients are between the ages of 15 and 25. Manic Depression affects 2.4% of the world (Nordqvist).
There are 2 stages during bipolar disorder, the stage of mania and the stage od depression. Mania is the period of euphoria, restlessness, energy, recklessness, and much talking. During this stage, you are most likely to participate in risky behaviors. During depression stages, you may feel sad, cry a lot, or have a sense of being worthless...

His father was especially involved with his children. Though, he rebelled at St. Leo’s high school. He was also very shy and dated little in high school. (Mel Gibson Biography)
At first, Mel wanted to be a chef or journalist in college. Yet, his sister submitted an application for him to the National Institute of Dramatic Art. He decided to audition without any prior acting experience. Mel got accepted to the Institute and enrolled in drama school. He performed his first stage debut here in the production of Romeo and Juliet. After graduation from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, he joined the Southern Australian Theatre Company where he performed in title roles in classic productions (Mel Gibson).
