People such as the Italians in the 1870s tried to assimilate in order to become an American to not become an enemy in the U.S. Also, the Mexicans today are constantly coming to the U.S. to have a better life because they know being American is the best solution for their problems at home. What assimilation mean is when a person leaves one’s own culture to join a different culture the person wants to be. People throughout history must assimilate to become a true American
One element that greatly affects an immigrant’s experience in a new country is how they are viewed and treated by the people of that country. In the article President Obama: “Immigrants and Refugees Revitalize and Renew America”, President Obama is giving a speech at a naturalization ceremony in Washington, DC. He is welcoming new citizens from many different countries. Immigration being a popular topic in America today, President Obama brought some good points about it to our attention. In the speech, President
The immigration is a problem that has been growing up for the last decades in United States, and the most part of this problem is related to immigrants that come from Mexico. One of the reasons why most of the immigrants are from Mexico is because Mexico share borders with the US, but also because the immigrants are convinced that if they go to the US they will have a better life pursuing things like the common called “American Dream”. These immigration problems have caused many issues between different races and because of this there is many discrimination against the immigrants. This is clearly seen with Mexicans, even more compared to different immigrants from other races,
Immigration has been a topic that has caused multiple discussions on why people migrate from one country to another, also how it affects both the migraters and the lands they go. Immigration is the movement from one location to another to live there permanently. This topic has been usually been associated with sociology to better explain how it affects people, cultures and societies. Sociology has three forms of thinking that are used to describe and analyze this topic. There are three forms of thinking that are used to tell and describe immigration to society; structural functionalist, symbolic interactionist, and conflict theory. Each of these theories uses different forms of thinking and rationality to describe and explain socio topics.
There are many challenges faced by the immigrant. They come to this land and hope to be treated with Respect and pledge allegiance to the American flag just like the Average American. As the land of opportunity gained popularity more and more seemed to find their way over. Innovations in travel allowed many the opportunity to start over. However the
The issue of assimilation is the idea whereby the various culture takes each other and keep their culture differences aside in that the adopt to one and live in peace(Leiter, et al. 2015). It a challenging thing because one needs to learn why other do some rite of passage which becomes hard to adopt.
The theoretical framework is based, on the one hand, on theories that explain the integration model in each country, which are assimilation and multiculturalism. On the other hand, it is based on the intersectionality theory, which explains the multiple-discrimination that a person can experience. The selected three theories are essential to formulating the research hypotheses, which will subsequently be tested throughout this study.

Today, in most cases, people don’t spend very much time thinking about why the society we live in presently, is the way it is. Most people would actually be surprised about all that has happened throughout America’s history. Many factors have influenced America and it’s society today, but one of the most profound ways was the way the “Old Immigrants” and “New Immigrants” came to America in the early to mid 1800s. The “Old Immigrants were categorized as the ones who came before 1860 and the “New Immigrants” being the ones who came between 1865 and 1920. The immigrants came to the United States, not only seeking freedom, but also education. Many immigrants also wanted to practice their religion without hindrance. What happened after the immigrants

Working at an orphanage in Ghana may have not been the benevolent experience I expected, but it ended up being a portal into the deaf community. I sat on my high horse as I entered the orphanage. As much as this trip was geared to help others, human nature’s sense of narcissism kicked in, and a small voice suffocated my brain saying , “I hope this makes me seem like a good person.” My lack of global awareness was astonishing when I arrived in Ghana, little did I know, a five minute interaction with a deaf Ghanaian man would alter my mindset completely.
A big proportion of the people in this country think that the illegal immigrants bring more trouble than benefits. Nevertheless, it’s illogical to think that owing to the fact that this nation is founded and established by immigrants; the country works due to a tremendous quantity of intellectually gifted people who have migrated to this country to develop their skills and at the same time to help the country to have a greater diversity in culture and thinking. On this manner, we will see the benefits that the immigrants bring with their arrivals and analyze a solution to reduce the numbers of immigrants that bring trouble.
In conclusion, all these three aspects: hurt the opportunity of the native, imposes a heavy financial burden, lead the increase of crime rate have apparently figured that the immigration has an adverse impact on the host country, and the natives. Even though the migrants who come from various countries may develop the cultural diversity, it will also decrease the trust between people. Therefore, I recommend the government of the host country should prevent the increasing of immigrants in order to solve the problem of
In todays American society it is not uncommon for their to be families broken up by divorce or other domestic disturbances. However, immigrants seem to have much more stronger family values. (Rocky Arcadi) For many immigrants, family comes first over everything; for many of them family is all they have. This is especially true of traditional developing societies. Many of these newcomers have strong traditions and beliefs wich are strict and are instilled in thier children. By immigrants comming to America with these type of beliefs and strong traditions it sets good examples for our western civilization. By receiving new cultures to our society it is a chance to absorb thier rules and respect they have for one another. This is ideal to help restore our family values.
